Haha I would love to buy another but the 2 I have are plenty I will have a play with overclocking after work. 1 SSD only and see how that goes. If need be, I will put my other drives on a network.

Looking good gregster
What memory are you running. If you can tune it then its a good 24/7 freebee with a hex core and good for a few hundred more points in 3dmark11.
You will not be able to go much higher on the speed but 8 Pack may be able to help with the timings. I run mine at 2400mhz with 9-11-11-25 1T tRFC 96 and also very tight 2nds and 3rds which is a lot better than the XMP setup. For normal use it does not make much difference but in 3dmark11 and other benchmarks its a nice bonus.
Edit Thats a cracking score for 2 GPUs
Checked to see if its removed your BF3 bottleneck?
For 5ghz did you just push the multiplier and vcore and nothing else? I found increasing power limits and all sorts of other stuff helped me get my speed up, I could probably push towards 5.3ghz but my insane amount of vdroop is stopping me.
Your using the 125 strap by the look of it. Lots of people say its better than the 100 strap for ocing. I find on mine 100 works better @5.0ghz.
When going for 5.0ghz it may help a bit to slacken the memory timings a bit. With mine it will do 5.0ghz easy with loose memory timmings and with very tight timings 4.9ghz easy but going for 5.0ghz with tight timings some days it does and some days not.
Nice scores Gregster. That puts you top top top
Ok, so i tweaked my things a little, nothing extreme.
i7 3770K now @4.4
GTX 680 Sli 1200/1600
New results.

3DMark 11 Score - 16717
Graphics Score - 21394
Physics Score - 10648
Combined Score - 9368
My old score is already on the board if you would kindly update it to this score.
Thanks. I think i could have gone further, but i don't really need a huge overclock. This seems to be a good spot with good temps across the range.
Good news for Lightning owners on both camps from having a look around XS!!
GTX680 Lightning: I've seen some bench runs on water, 1420+ boost!!
R7970 Lightning: Also found a few screens showing a fully unlocked afterburner pushing 1.4v/1400mhz, hopeful the chap will share his wisdom with me
You really should update the scores. If I was new to this thread I would want to know what 2 MSI lightnings could do to help my buying decisions.
My next build sometime next year will probably use water to a greater or lesser extent and again it helps a lot more if I can get the most up to date info from the tables.
Out of all my benchmarks in the tables my favorite and probably the most useful is the one for a single HD 5970. It comes last in the table for 2 GPUs and is never likely to do any better. It also shows that although its a very old card it still offers good performance compared to some of the modern single GPU cards. This could help someone who is thinking to upgrade or not.
Don't be modest Gregster we need the information in the charts.
Time to fix your sig
Once again very nice score and if I'm honest that score
will the there to be beaten for a long time me thinks
That is unless you decide to crank up that chip of yours
and do a 5Ghz run
On a more serious side has it improved FSX ?
Nice wallpaper
Your welcome,
don't know why i helped you now as I'll never match those scores
Bottle neck my ---
What changes did you make to get it to 5.0ghz
Its very impressive at that vcore.
Try take it up to 2400mhz with those timings, perhaps drop the CR down to 1T. 2400mhz on strap:
102.9 BCLK
125 strap
18.66 memory multiplier/divider.
Im currently at (I think, I'll have to check) 11-13-11-30-1T @ 2400mhz. I Might give those voltage settings you listed a whirl on my 3820, all those listed for me are on auto.
I'm tempted to hop over to X79, looks more fun overclocking.
As I said earlier your Vcore 1.495 is very impressive (I think it shows one of the benefits of using a proper watercooled loop)
I use
Vcore 1.55
VTT 1.10
VCCSA 1.10
PLL 1.80
Next time I build a system I think I will give watercooling a go. Fortunately 99.9% of the time I run @4.0ghz so the Vcore is a lot lower.
It is you should give it a go plus X79 will be with us for a few years yet.
I couldn't justify the cost anyway, if i had a buyer lined up for old MB+CPU...then maybe
Trying to save up for a new road bike though, bloody hard when i keep coming on OCUK lol.
