**Official 3D Mark 11 scores**

The 7970 is just not very strong :p

On a serious note, tried rebooting?

Tempted to flash this new BIOS that's going around and see if I can get over 12k graphics score with this Windforce. It's a really nice clocker, identical levels of performance to my already decently overclocked reference 680.

Change it to stretched - it did something weird to my score on that mode.

It was like triple buffering was enabled.

Frame rates would settle on a multiple of 30 only. As soon as it went under 120 say it would drop to 90.

Strange, a run at 1250/1700 has given me the right scores: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4106432

Nearly 1500 marks of difference on the GPU - that was stretched, I'll try 1290/1800 in stretch too though I'm wondering if the card doesn't like those clocks and is throttling down without crashing. We will soon find out :)

Edit: Stretch mode seems to have sorted it, how odd, 1290/1800 now pulling in a GPU score of 10848 :)

It is :(

Waterblock was due in stock on Friday, so hopefully should see the waterblock, motherboard block and new memory this coming week so I can finally let my CPU and GPU stretch out a little :)

Is the GPU running gen3 16x sometimes its stuck at 1.1 use GPU-z to check this.

Its not stuck at 1.1 (going by gpuz render test) but it is only working at 2.0.

Just use 100% fan for benching

Cooler dependent, if you're going 100% on a ref 7970 cooler then get some ear protection :D

Around 80% on my lightning is enough to keep everything under 60c.

It's only benching if your worried about fan noise for benching perhaps its not for you.

This is a problem I am having currently on the cold. I am searching for a bios to sort this now.

Sorted it, PCIE was set to legacy, set it to EFI and it now bumps up to 3.0

I don't mind the fan noise, just a caution that the 7970 ref's at 100% are pretty damn loud. Besides, hopefully the majority of fan noise will be gone from my machine as of next weekend :)

Its the cold causing my problem for sure. Sadly the AMD reference cold slow bios is not flashing to the card correctly.
