***** Official 3D Mark Vantage Scores thread *****

I was happy with it :) This rig is nearly 3 years old now, all I've done to it is put the two gts in replacing a 7800 gtx and bioshock (60fps), even crysis (25-30fps, custom high) are playable. Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by the card.

It's not as quick as the 8800GT, but it runs so cool you can overclock the heck out of the memory (I can push it to 1150, from a stock of 900!) and the core can go up to 790 in single 730 in sli (because of a used pci slot basically sealing in the second card so no airflow). For such a cheap card it's an amazing bit of kit.

£220 cost me to bring the old rig upto almost modern performance.

You can see my crap scores, as you know a Quad will not gain you anything in games and a 8800GTX/Ultra can game better than a 9800GTX and GX2 in most reviews, but on this new 3DMARK Vantage they get far less scores lol.

Just sold my EVGA 8800 GTX K0 and upgraded to a 9800 GTX. With the 9800 GTX at stock its about the same. If you get a decent clocking 9800 GTX like mine games that were unplayable on the 8800 GTX ( Hellgate DX10 1920x1200 with min AA for instance ) suddenly become playable.

As for gaming better than a GX2 thats just silly talk.

Might be worth taking reviews on the net with a pinch of salt.

Interesting, our systems are quite close

Indeed, in terms of framerates mine is well clear, and in cpu count yours well ahead. Mixing em up and they wash pretty similar.

The 9600GT clocks like crazy though,

Core clock 730.0 MHz -> 500.0 MHz
Memory clock 1100.0 MHz -> 799.0 MHz

Such a difference between the your card and mine. And when I upgrade my system so that the second gt doesn't have a xfi plugging up its fan, I can clock the core up to 790.

I'd really like to see how the 8800GT SLI stacks up to the 9600GT SLI clocked off its dial.

*Edit* Just realised yours is a mobile variant - that's mega for a notebook machine.
