*** Official 7950 Ice-Q Owners Club***

I get a vrm readout on card two tommy, but not on card one. Card two is locked at 24 & 25c for both vrm readouts.

Clears that up then, and instantly brings a jingle to mind.

'some girls do, some girls won't, some girls need a lot of lovin...'

Mines lose their coyness when I juice them up though.;)

The first rule of crossfire club is disable ULPS. The second rule of crossfire club is never talk about crossfire club. The third rule is never discuss the second rule. The fourth rule is i don't think any of this makes sense.

Unfortunately im now out of the club for breaking the rules.

I was struggling to follow all the rules anyway. :p

:D Lol, first rule has been added to the op.

Rock on Tommy :D Disabling Ulps did the trick, both now idling at 300\150. Also getting static vrm readouts of 24c\25c.

Better gaming with ulps disabled moar power and smoother delivery, the vrm's are baffling though.

@Jony27,

Tommy's learned something new about the Ice-Q's so you get the Q of the week award:

Anyone have a vid with various fan noise on their 'quiet' cards at different percentages?

I'm unsure if some of you have seriously damaged hearing, as mine is definitely not quiet at anything past 45%, and 55% upwards is bloody annoying (more so than any card I've used since an 8800GS that ran at 100% all the time). :D

Out of curiosity, is there aftermarket coolers that fit this card?

I've been using the BIOS LtMatt posted earlier for a while and I've OC to 1100/1400 with +20% and while temps are no higher than around 65c I can hear the fans while playing games. I think the fan % moves up with the temp as a 1:1 so the fan will be going at about 65%. I'm gonna try using a fixed speed of 50% for both cards and see if that improves the noise a bit. I'm not too bothered if both cards get into the low 70's as long as it's quieter!

Yes the default fan profile was quieter than mine. I game with G35 headphones so i can't tell the difference between 0% and 100% so id rather have the fan making more noise and keeping the gpu a bit cooler and thus allowing me to overclock further.

With the headphones I guess it makes sense to have the GPU cooler. I'm probably gonna have the fan set to the highest it will go without being audible then ramp it right up if the temps go above 70c. So it will look something like this:

IF temp <70c THEN speed = 50% (I think this will be quiet)
IF temp >70c THEN speed = 70%
IF temp >80c THEN speed = 80%
IF temp >90c THEN rethink life.

Help, I'm on stage 8 of matt flash thing.
I am missing the and boolog.prv, I have matt.rom and the ati though. So just to be extra safe should I go forward and flash or do I need those missing files? I have hidden files shown by the way, and I'm using windows 8.

thats it, after days of deliberation I finally hit checkout and the IceQ has shipped this evening. Bought myself another Noctua 120mm fan also for the side to blow cooler air right onto the cards. Looking forward to it now, really hope it does 1200+ core and 1600+ Mem like my GBWF3.

Is the only good way to remove boost to flash one of the custom bios?
I'm tempted but always weary about flashing vga cards, been a while since I last did one.
I'm currently using CCC to overclock to 1100/1400 +20%, not done any real testing, just ran Tomb Raider and played Alien Vs Colonial Marines for an hour or two and had no problems, GPU-z showed my temps under 69 with fan around 60%

Flashing the BIOS is easy (easier in Windows with ATIWinFlash but some people argue you shouldn't flash in Windows, although I've not had a legitimate reason why not).

If you search google for how to use ATIWinFlash you will find some good guides that are relatively pain free. I've used this program for multiple flashes with no issues.

This is the only way you will get a non boost over clock and a nice low voltage.

All the BIOS that LtMatt has made/posted for use in the OP should be exactly the same (925/1250 non boost) apart from different idle voltages. Mine didn't like the lower voltage so I used the one with I think 0.9v, the others are 0.8v and 0.85v.
