***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews and benches inside)

Money aside, Having just re-read the Firingsquad review again, I fail to understand why some think the performance improvements aren't good
At 1920x1280 in many titles it's anything between 30% and 80% quicker than an Ultra and 20% to 50% than an X2

Out of curiosity, what % improvement would those who think this, demand for it to be classed as a good improvement

I think most people want to see the same gains as when they first upgraded to a 8800GTX from the 7900GTX, dont get me wrong it was a nice gain but I dont think we will see such a big jump for a long time with a graphics card upgrade.

Glad to see all that tweaktown nonsense debunked. Hopefully people stop believing those sill pre release benchmarks.

Its weird that they never considered the power supply connectors. 8800 ultra had a similar shroud and never had anything like that.

I think some of the insults on here about people buying the 9800GX2 have been way out of line, quite simply we are enthusiasts with typically deeper pockets than most so if someone wants to spend £430 on a graphics card then fair play to them and I hope they enjoy it.

Personally I'm on a 8800GT at the moment and I was hoping to see the GX2 for £350, when it comes down to that price I will get one (intel motherboard and dual monitors so cant use normal sli, Im hoping the GX2 allows multiple monitors)

I'll also keep an eye on the 9800GTX, I know its only an overcloced GTS but Im also hoping it overclocks like crazy as som initial reports seem to suggest.

if youre an enthusiast and have the money to make the purchase, fair play to you..we all like benchmarks from real users.

but i think most ppl that are annoyed with the price, are like myself dont have that kind of money to burn.

so we would prefer a bit more bang for buck.

dont get me wrong its a good card, but dont see the mainstream user wasting 400+ when they can get some good fps out of a card at half the price.

if they were around 300 then it would be a bit better for most.

if feel that is a reasonable price tag for the tec,in the sense its not really that new in that department.

Whoa! Now that is some expensive piece of kit :p I think I'll stick with my X2 for now :p

It only the same price as what i payed for my 8800gtx a year ago,,and the same price as what i payed for my x1900xt-x on release about two years ago

£410 isn't a big deal to most people on here seeing as most of us are enthusiasts an all and have ready cash for worthwhile hardware. Most of us just choose to do a reasonable upgrade after deep thought and consideration.

Also the irony of calling ME stupid. Hah!

Purchasing this thing on the other hand requires some serious lack of rational thought and judgement. I look forward to your purchase justification which no doubt will be flooded all over the forum for months to come.

Why would a £410 purchase not be a big deal to an enthusiast? Im an enthusiast and £410 on any item of hardware is a big deal to me.

Too much pompous playa-hating from you Tom and some others me thinks.;)

Let the early adopters enjoy their purchase.

The GX2 isnt my bag either for probably some of the same reasons as you, but we all have our own subjective buying criteria so you are wrong to call Mr.B irrational.

I wish him luck and await his and the other GX2 owners feedback with interest.:)
