***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews and benches inside)

I find it odd a lot of the reivews are not mentioning tempeatures on the card. Hardocp has that as a standard part of their reviews yet this time its not there.

I find it odd a lot of the reivews are not mentioning tempeatures on the card. .

This time tomorrow, evryone will be moaning about that, just wait lol.

I think because of the 2 PCBs in the one "package" of the GX2 - heat dissipation will be a real problem, but i will wait and see :)

I can afford any hardware I want.

But it has to pack a punch.

The GX2 is a waste of money.Badly designed (just like the 7950GX2) and not fast

enough to warrant a new name.

How can the fastest Graphics card to date not be fast

I think he deffo got it all for free, I mean 2 EVGA GX2's and an EVGA mobo and working for EVGA it makes sense.

And before this he did have 3 EVGA Ultras thathe was showing off so im guessing he does. Unless he added a few cards to some ones order and they just never arrived to the customer for some reason. :D

A very bold heat test

Since heat worries me with this product I closed the chassis, disabled the intake fan and started monitoring what happened. Temperature of the GX2 when fully stressed rose over 100 Degrees C after 15 minutes. Luckily there is a safety built in for overheating, as performance halfed itself. We think that one GPU disabled itself, but how do you prevent that ? Well, buy a very well ventilated chassis.

A good option is also, use Rivatuner to force the FAN RPM to 60% .. and away is you problem, still at a normal noise level. Just so that you know guys .. okay ?

 Taken from guru 3d review. http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/512/4/

I said its not fast enough... (read my post again)

Its not enough speed increase over current Gen.

Its overpriced for the performance you get.

NV are releasing a new Card soon.

I could go on:p

Yeh sorry read it wrong, ;)

I'm off for some English lessons :D

I didnt laugh at people with the X2, i laughed at people with the X2 plus a 3870XT. When a GX2 is a better and more quiet option for the same sort of money.

I hope you don't think it's cooler, reports of these cards hitting 100c :p

Now Easy is speaking my language.

nice price..................................... NOT
Would rather waste my money wiping my backside than pay for some 2 year old tech

The reviews and benchies are all in the first post so you obviously didn't spend that 10 minutes well :(

Yeah, saw those, but I want to see what owners of the card have to say.

Mind you, they've probably been scared off now by some folks saying they've been idiots for buying the card...

Can we change the thread title to '***Official*** 9800GX2 thread (reviews, benches, bickering/arguing and people having a go at some who had the audacity to buy a graphics card some don't approve of.....inside)' please?

Really some of you guys, you need to just kick back and let people get on with it...

EDIT: And to those of you are saying '£400 is no big deal, I could get one if I wanted', if it's such a 'small' amount of money, why are you getting so exercised? If these were £70, I dare say you wouldn't be making such comments, so obviously a monetary value judgement is coming in to it somewhere...

With the prices of pc games costing the same as consoles. eg call of duty 4 for £35. I carnt realy see the point now in spending £400+ on a gfx card over a £160 Xbox360 to play the same game. - Think about it!
You don't need to spend £400 on a video card to play COD4 in the same res and same framerate as on a 360. More like £140.
