Is it ok to plug in 120mm case fans to the 3 pin headers on this board, rather than using Molex adapters?

I seem to remember being told 120mm fans drew too much power and could blow a motherboard- is this still the case?

And if it is ok, is it still ok plugging in 3?

They are Yate Loons if it matters (the L version).

I certainly wouldn't. They draw a lot of power and could either damage the board or hold you back when overclocking the board.

Ideally you want to run motherboard with as little power being drawn directly as possible, from case fans, leds etc and turn off all unnecessary onboard peripherals etc.
 
I was a little worried this older 965 board would not clock these new proccessors very well........

Well i was wrong :) Think i could go further with a p35 board but **** it this is fast enough for now ;)
