**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

i'll be getting this on friday, would you guys recommend installing, but waiting to see how servers balance out till i make my own character? I don't wanna fall behind or be at a disadvantage or w.e.

Yes, install it and just avoid Spatalos and Perento. The remaining English-UK servers are Castor, Telemachus and Gorgos, all 3 of which are significantly less busy than the first two I mentioned.

not sure whether to go asmo or elyos, dark and cool, but possibly ugly and dark, or light and handsome, but possibly fairyboy...hmm
 
i'm gonna start on telemachus sick of the **** on spat any one wanna start a legion on there wtih me? Unless there one going allready.

got to agree mate, people are expecting to walk straight into another 5 year old WoW I think, even if they don't realise it.

Very smooth launch, and very good game.

Also, if you are starting this weekend, do bear in mind that its the first "full" release weekend. Dont be put off if its crazy busy. IMO theres a terrific game here, its got lumps and bumps like most major MMO releases do at launch, but in 6months time nobody will remember the launch anyway.
 
all im hoping is that this will last me till Star Wars: The Old Republic lol.

along the way there will obviously be uncharted 2, mw2, mass effect 2, bioshock 2, assassins creed 2, etc etc.
 
First impressions...

I could have thought i loaded up WoW if i had it installed, not impressed so far. I Don't think this will take me out of Eve for long...

I shouldn't have fell for this hype but i've bought it now so ill have to give it a chance!

I see the OcUK Aion guild forum says recruitment is on hold until later on after release. Is this true or can I grab an invite and join the fun? :)
 
Aw damn I just noticed something terrible. I bought Aion on Steam and once it downloaded and launched the NCSoft Launcher the installed games says "Aion (North America)". Does this mean I wont be able to play on UK servers?

Why the hell did it give me that version of the game, both my Steam and Paypal accounts were set to UK. Is there any way to get over to the UK version of the game?

Quite annoyed at this tbh. :(

EDIT: I logged into the NCSOFT account management screen and it says I have the game "Aion (Europe)", wilol try launching the game and see what happens.

You're wise to give it a chance, aesthetically it may look a little like WoW, but the game mechanics are nothing like WoW. Much more like Daoc than WoW to be honest.

i was gonna roll on Spatalos but because of the constant queues i ended up rolling on telemachus instead with a few guys from work!

Check out the steam forums, someone has posted a fix. It worked for me :)
 
I tried those, I'm now having to resort to downloading the entire EU version of the game, another 6GB! :(

Not getting on tonight I guess, oh well tomorrow I WILL get a chance to play. :p
 
Did you try going into the game? Mine says North America but is actually picking up the euro servers just fine, the launcher lies! ;)

this is exactly what i thought to begin with too, but now i'm lvl 10 - got to the new area, can fly and have some new skills its starting to feel a bit different to wow, ill probably buy the game and give it a month before i make up my mind. pre ordered in shop so havent commited to buying it yet!, but its showing promise so ill give it a go.
