**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

The queues are ridiculous, each time you want to log in you face 2h+ queue.

I can see a lot of people quitting this game by the end of the free month as this is deffo not a game for everyone, leveling gets quite slow past lvl 20 with plenty of grinding.

Greetings!

And I also got two Frozen Daggers and put +8 Crit on each of them. I'll put another 8 on when I have the money. :(

Lineage 2 trained me well in the art of grinding, I will take this challenge.

Although it does indeed have more of a grind than some MMO players will be used to, its actually got less of a grind than early Daoc for instance, would also say it has less of a grind than early EQ. "old schoolers" (hate that term), will be used to Aion, newer mmo'ers quite possibly wont.

Honestly the grind is not that bad, yes the levels are quite long but there are a decent amount of quests to do along the way.

The big thing is that people are playing it like some other MMO's where quests are like 100k xp and the mobs 100xp but in Aion the mobs are 5k and the quest is only 20k. So skipping mobs and only killing the specific quest mobs is silly, just kill everything you see.

ofc I'm a ex-EQ/EQ2/DAoC player so I'm well used to it.

I'm quite pleased to see a bit of a grind to it, but again, I'm an ex EQ player and found WoW far too simple to progress through the levels. It lost the satisfaction of gaining a level like dinging through the hell levels in Everquest used to.

Is this game playable for a casual player? I would only play for an hour at a time in the evenings (all the time I have really) and in between other games. Are the instances time consuming etc.

I am currently playing Titan quest (only a couple of hours into it) but thought if I was going to play an rpg why not do an mmorpg.

I wouldnt bother with an MMO if i couldnt play more than an hour at a time if i was you. War or WoW might be better choices if you do go for it though.

I wouldn't bother really, this game isn't for casuals that can only play an hour at a time. If it was WoW then maybe it would be better for you, with Aion you would take forever to level up.

I agree with Cliffy above, if you only have 1 hour to play at a time, then I wouldnt bother with Aion (or most MMOs). You wont really get much achieved in 1 hour in Aion, it would be months before you even reached level 20 on 1 character. If you were crafting you would only manage to collect a few resources and make a few items and that would be your hour up.

Of course it depends on how patient a person you are, if you dont mind that it might take you a year to reach level 50, then thats ok, but it would be very slow going and you would quickly find that all of your ingame friends are beyond you in level terms within a matter of days.

Have they added a new server? Im in the queue to log in so im not leaving to find out but it looked like there was a new one in the list. Or is this old news :S

Im only playing this till Star Wars The Old Republic, which is ages away. So i hope i get to lvl 50 by then. I play about 2 hours a day, a bit more on weekends, but due to the time i go on there. Waiting in line takes most of my time away, anyone else play in the evenings and in the same prediciment as me:(

I disagree guys, its all down to the user and you know whats it like, if you truely start to really enjoy a game that hour becomes only an extra half hour more, than another hour and then 3 hours etc, but maybe thats just me!

If you can be disciplined enough to only play for an hour and enjoy every bit of it then do it mate! remember, its not all about getting to level 50 as fast as you can its about enjoying the game :D

You can bypass the 30 minute afk timer by doing the boogie or shaking your ass...do a dance... or any other continuous emote.

They can't ban you for playing the game, you are at liberty to do the emote as long as you want.....good scenes in vertaron....I got 20 people shaking their asses to bypass the shop afk filter :D

Anyway...for me personally, this game has taken the last straw tbh, I have cancelled the subs until a point in time I see on the forums (aionsource) that the queues have vanished.

I was in a 110% queue...position 369/361...in some mmo's they have queues that go down...in this game it can go up and over the amount of players waiting!:

Technically, as with all games where you are allowed to play on someone elses server, they can ban you for whatever they want, they reserve the right to restrict access. If they were to deem a players actions were detrimental to other players i wouldnt for example be surprised to see a suspension put in force, its what i would do if i was in charge.

I do find it somewhat ironic that in your post you complain about queues on the one hand, yet on the other take great glee from the fact that you got people to stay ingame and thereby increasing the queues (which you so hate) for everyone else.
