**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

Crysis runs at this res on enthusiast without a single hitch and I know for starters it looks much better than that!

That looks fine. Just because it uses the Cryengine doesn't mean it's going to look like Crysis, unfortunately. If they'd coded it with draw distances, polygon count and textures the size of Crysis's, the game would fall over and die with more than a few people in any given area.

Guys, whats going on here - does this look "working as intended" here? (5870), wtf is up with the GPU load?

5870.jpg

btw it dropped to 47 when I hit prtsrc, before that it was 55-60fps.

Do the gpu stats look ok?

Latest ATI driver (22/09), max everything, 1366x1068 (limited by my LCD), 8xAA, 3xbloom, weather effects etc - vsync off, tripple buff off, everything else highest.

Crysis runs at this res on enthusiast without a single hitch and I know for starters it looks much better than that! I can also run crysis windowed with all of that running and its still smooth.

What frames do you get in fullscreen?

On my 4870x2 i couldnt for the life of me work out how i couldnt get over 40-50fps and changed loads of settings and stuff, Then noticed i had windowed fullscreen on.. The moment i changed that to fullscreen i went to 120fps :D

Dunno if that helps..

I have a question. I'm Templare lvl19 at the moment and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the game gets better for me later.
At the moment I kill things very slowly AND I get hurt quite a bit, ie. half life versus a same level mob, so I mean killing stuff slowly is already bad enough but I can't even take a beating and I'm supposed to be a tank. I'm not really well stuffed but I have at least plate in all slots.

Tell me it will get better please..

I'm a 29 templar now and can grind pretty much non stop on same level mobs. When i get low i just stick on empyreon armour and end up with more hp at the end of the fight than i started with. All my manastones are hp + block too so its not like i do much damage. Buy a good sword if you can though as it makes a big difference on white damage. If you want more damage just go for crit manastones as well as block.

PvP in this game looks pretty incredible. ala http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1KSM512chE

Reminds me of wow in the very early days, the style of the fights. Not the actual combat.

Anyone got any first hand experience of it at a decent lvl?

I'm 40 and the mass scale pvp is really good mate. Also the world PvP in the abyss rapes.

Loads of fights in the abyss..

I have seen small 6v6 fights, I have seen 20vs20 I have seen 40v40 and I have seen literally hundreds vs hundreds.

On fullscreen around the starting areas (forrest/prison camp/lake etc) I'd get 160-200fps, in Pandamonium its 60-120fps (60-80 in the great hall where your trainers are) but averaging around the 60 mark, especially in the market areas.

It must be the game, how else would I be able to run Crysis on enthusiast with Aion in the background windowed and its still smooth lol

Do those temps etc look ok? by the looks of it to me, its just a little over idle!? so its asleep.

I just want to make sure I've not missed any obvious settings anywhere when I built my rig.

If you are getting that kind of FPS and it also plays smooth then it looks like it's running fine. If your main reason for freaking out is because of the low GPU usage then it's likely down to the fact that you are running it on a low screen resolution.

Why haven't you got a monitor with a higher resolution? Or is that an 720p LCD TV that you are using as a monitor?

Yes thats right mate, I'm using the 40" LCD (8ms yikes - 1080i) in my living room as at the minute I dont have a monitor, going to grab one in the next couple of months so I can go higher.

That was mainly what I was worried about the GPU load, so if I significantly up the resolution I should still get decent frame rates?

Do you think this would be good enough (I dont want to spend too much if poss): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-099-SA&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=

or: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-029-DE

Thanks for your reply mate

I nearly gave up my templar at that lvl infact it will get worse IMO at lvl 20/21 however at 22 you get something like 9 new skills which change the class and start kicking some ass. Im lvl 28 and grind with a greatsword a lvl 30 mob takes 1/4 health from me

grinded about 2mill xp solo in that lava cave place last night and was rewarded with a nice drop :) .. shame it wasnt a Spiritmaster book but should fetch a tidy sum of dosh ! ... the pic doesnt do it justice as it look amazing equiped

staffofuberness.jpg

Looks good, nice stats too. How much do you think its worth? there are come crazy prices at the auction house, I was looking last night but following ascension I could only afford a belt and one of those dodgy masks!

At what level can you enter the lava caves? any similar areas for 10+?

the cave has all elite mobs 25-27 usually theres patrols accompanying the Sentinals so its tricky splitting them up. Spiritmaster has a few roots and slows so you can kite the lvl 27's until the patrols sod off :p

i went at lvl 24 and spent a good few hours grinding mobs and that staff dropped off a lvl 27 elite.. funny thing was i didnt realise i had got it until a few kin members asked me why i had a few 'congrats messages in general chat! Overwhelming Support didint strike me as a name for a weapon ,,

similar weapons are going from 1.6m-2m on the Broker so unless i rank my chanter im cashing it in :)

at lvl 10 theres not much you can go for but once you hit say 16 you can group up and hit the Black claw camps for good xp and decent drops..

If you had a 30inch and run it natively at 2560 x 1600, your 5870 should still give you decent frame rates in Aion as it's not a particularly taxing game. You won't quite get two hundred range at such a high resolution but around the 100 mark at a quick guess, which is still more than enough.

Out of the two TN based panels it's a tough choice. One is 1920 x 1200, has a better looking design but only VGA + DVI, whereas the other is 1920 x 1080 but with VGA + DVI + HDMI. If you plan on hooking up a PS3 or 360 then go for the Dell, otherwise I'd go with the Samsung :)

was at a fortress under attack earlier from eylos a little while before it was attackable but the long battle reminded me of old school av very much :)

Oh god now I'm really excited, AV before they implemented the honour system was the high point of WoW PvP for me. I still remember the names of the PvP gods on Dreanor at the time, whereas later on no one knew who anyone else was and it got turned into another grind.

Wish they'd hurry up and deliver my copy already :(

Still can't decide whether to go for Templar and get dragged back into high time investment pve or go for Ranger and try and resist getting dragged back into the mmorpg pit of despair by sticking to some more casual pvp. Are Templars actually viable in PvP at the level cap? Because Prot warriors never used to be in WoW, apart from flag running and certain other things.

Its prolly down to the game not using all of the graphics cards resouces when your not in fullscreen, Too get a proper reading you need to get that app your using to get the temps to come ontop of the fullscreen aion to properly see the temps/usage, But thats easier said than done!

Oh and i have http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-086-SA&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat= and its an amazing monitor, If u dont want a HDMI port then get the cheaper version. Only thing i would say isnt that amazing is the stand, Has no agustment to it!

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep at it anyway but I was starting to get worried.
I like the class but god its slow to kill mobs :)

Looking forward to getting on this asap, new build pc is on the horizon in the next few weeks, I was in the beta a while ago but playing on a Sparkle 7600gt (not a pleasant experience) can't wait! Everyones screen shots look amazing maxed out etc :)

Seems great so far. Very polished and fun. I do hope combat gets a bit more varied (though only lvl 7 at the moment:p ).
