**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

First 15-20lvls in any mmo are always very good. Just wait for the grind from lvl 25+ and your excitement will be all but gone.

wrong, the game opens up at lvl 25 starting with your Abyss training and first group instance. Have you even tried questing in the Abyss having to constantly be aware of your surroundings, flight time and potential PvP attacks ? slating a game thats so complex when its fresh off the shelves isnt very clever now is it ..

Not necessarily, as I have said time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time again. The so called "grind" in Aion is less of a grind than was present in Daoc, EQ and to a degree UO. So anyone who is used to those sorts of grinds really wont be terribly phased by Aion's so called "grind". If however you are someone who is only used to the newer fast levelling MMOs then you might be affected by the "grind".

Ive had this since release and ive only got to lvl 14, i hated playing as a chanter (personaly) so hardly played it, seemed like a chore. Only played it to get in a good guild, then i had a chat with them and they let me be a gladiator. So i started one today at 6:00 and now ive stopped at 8:00 and im lvl 8 already.
Moral of the story pick the class you really want to play not what other people want you to do:D

just hit level 23.5 on my sorcerer, and it gets better all the time. I managed to acquire some parts of the fate set and it's awesome. grinding the mushrooms south of morheim fortress provides good xp, but seems slow and slightly tedious to me. does anyone else have recommendations what they did from levels 23-25?

I started a gladiator just for fun, but i find myself hooked, stopping only when i forced myself to log out at level 5. I had planned to try an assassin as well, level them both a bit past 10 and see which one i preffered.

One thing ive noticed is that all chain and plate gear looks fairly amazing, and cool. However, the same sets on cloth look extremely bad, for example Sura's set is awesome shiny and cool on plate, but on cloth it's purple with half the chest missing.

great game so far, can't wait for the shower of new skills at level 25/28.

For your levelling question, have you been to the brustholin zone yet? If not you will find a bunch of quests there, as well as an area of guardian mobs which are easy to kill and give a lot of xp, money and loot. A great grinding spot

finally got to 40 and now only 10 levels left, should be fast now. currently grinding elites getting 340k exp per mob. still loving the game, just ran the 40+ instance twice earlier (research center) but sadly no drops

I Really fail to see why so many people are whining about the "Grind" max level.... less than a month after release... What Grind?
Yes it will have been hard work, and grats to those that are already 50, enjoy the PvP farming :)

Hardly a grind tho, I remember playing RF online before the rates increase, easy mode and cash shop. We were doing non stop grinding from 49 > 50 and getting AFAIK 0.01% every 3 mobs or something silly, 1%+ a session was considered good when we started xD Was great fun tho.

The grind bits are where you get to know people and the new guildies that you have met, enjoy it :)

Argh I have now been hit by this crashing problem spending time in Eltenan :( Shift+F12 helps a bit but I still end up crashing after about 5 mins or so.

Hope they come out with a fix soon :/ It's strange as well because the game runs very smoothly but just suddenly crashes to desktop out of no where :( I would say my machine is high end as well - only built it just over a month ago!!

I think that part of it (not all of it) is that some people have become used to games where you can reach max level in less than a month, or be able to solo quest 90% of the way to max level. To be honest, I dont think we are too far away now from someone releasing an MMO where you just start at max level or where you are offline all the way up to max level and only go online once you reach max. A kind of offline MMO if you like.

Isnt that Guild Wars? :D

LOL yep thats already been done.
I've already seen a fair few complaining that they cant AoE/kill fast mobs that are way above them for good XP, complain they can't solo all the quests and farming sucks.

Valid points and farming is a drag, as the mobs get harder tho loot seems to get no better xD One thing I do miss as a tank is AoEing :( Used to love pulling everything in sight with a couple of healers and AoErs for farming :D

Indeed...I actually saw someone complaining the other day that they couldnt solo in the Abyss.

Er...HELLO!?

You gotta wonder if they read anything about a game before they buy it?!

I was thinking, You know how everyone says someone is a 'wow noob' in every new mmo now, But when wow 2 comes out, Will people still call the noobs 'wow noobs' or will they be confused and call them lotr noobs or something else? Cant exactly call them wow noobs when your playing wow2! :p

I am starting to wish I wasn't so far behind now and could group a bit more. I have spent 3 hours today trying to do 1 group quest, gave up in the end after the paty died 3 times.

Tanks that don't seem to want to tank and stand around waiting for everyone else or just people being stupid.

I hate forced group quests

Theres a lot more forced grouping to come yet (I prefer it that way, but not everyone will). Doesnt help of course when you have a party of idiots who dont understand the concepts of group fighting. Again I fear that is in part due to the lines between classes becoming so blurred in many recent MMOs and have made it so that almost any combination of classes/skills can faceroll in a group and still win that people have lost the ability to form effective groups like the ones that existed in the days of Daoc and before.

I'd recommend joining a good guild, theres a lot of grouping , either for quests or just for grinding in Aion, like the good old days of Daoc. I'm sure its mathematically possible to solo to max in Aion, but realistically you wont be soloing much past 25. Join a decent guild and things are an absolute blast :D

In regards to grouping,

at 40+ you get to do an instance called Steel Rake I believe. The lock out for this instance is 5 hours and it will take you 4-5 hours to do this instance. You get two quests which give you gold items, one shoulder and one head. I believe you need to do a combined run of 50 times to get both pieces. Then end game to get your golden weapon from a quest, you need to farm these elites, which have a random chance of dropping a hair, you need 600 hairs in order to get your weapon.

The game does a good job in mixing up solo/group.

ergh!! This is seriously getting annoying now, I dont crash as much in populated areas IF i do shift+f12, But now i have a even more annoying problem! Now EVERYTIME i die, It totally crashes my PC, Completely. And this is going to become a big problem the later on in the game i get..

been reading on aionsource people saying that XP 32bit fixes the problem, But i dont want to have to lose half my memory and have to flaff about with my SSD to work properly, Plus i only have 64 bit availible.

Might have to install 64bit and see if that works, As my brother is running a 4870 with 4gb ram on xp 64bit and hasnt crashes once yet..
