**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

Not had a lot of time to play it so far, but I must say I'm quite enjoying it.
It reminds me a bit of RF online, which although had tons of issues I had a great time on it (though that may have been due to the community on Fire server).

As for people comparing it to Warhammer and AoC, well let them. Both games had issues but I've had good times in both. Infact some of the best and most satisfying pvp I've had in an mmo since playing neocron was in AoC, as it was so manic at times and killing a class that was much stronger than you was hugely satifisfying.

Anyway back on topic; if your at a loose end and you think you might like the game, give it a try and see what you think, you could do a lot worse.
I.e. just continue playing wow even though you no longer enjoy the game. (unfortunetly there are a lot who fall into this category)

Anyone has problem with game crashing while doing massive PVP battles in abyss? I do have this problem as well as many other people, best place is to check aionsource forum as on official forums its somehow quite about this issue for some reason.

Just be careful about spending too long on Aionsource when you check there. Its one of the worst forums for quality of people I have ever seen, its actually worse than the WoW forums..and thats something I never thought I would say about any forum. I can barely stand reading it for long before the constant whining, insulting, e-peening and maturity level (both in attitude and MMO experience) drive me nuts and I have to leave.

I've heard of a few people having crashing problems in the abyss, seems that usually they have vista and is in someway related to some kind of 2gig file issue. Then again, there are people in our guild running vista who havent crashed once in the abyss, so seems all very random. The worst of technical problems of course..one of those for some people it does, for some people it doesnt problems. NCsoft have been comparatively swift on fixing issues so I'm guessing it wont be long before a fix is released, once they figure out the cause.

We have one person in the OcUK legion who crashes regularly in the Abyss, he thinks its to do with the game trying to adress more than 2gb. Only supposed to be a problem on vista 64, i have the same o/s though and am yet to experience it.

I havent been to the Abyss so cant comment on that, BUT i used to crash ALL the time in pandamonium but its seems to be fixed now, might be NCSoft, Might be me missing with every setting going! Also Shift+F12 really helps.. Altho it does happen in areas with loads of people now and then.

But, Now instead of just closing the game, It totally freezes my PC! Happened at the worst time yesterday as i jump off a massive cliff to glide down, About half way see me die and then crash! Was epic..

Im running Windows 7 (Thinking about installing XP)

Next time ill be doing a siege battle ill use Shift+12 and lower all gfx to minimum and see how it goes.

I remember at first Pandemonium to be full of chars, and the game never crashed, only when I faced 100s of chars around me in abyss while doing massive sieges.

Try it, It will prolly fix the problem but you wont be able to see the enemy! Tab attacking for the win!! :D

I noticed this too, no more crashes in the capital city - seems like it may have been fixed in the latest patch? stealth fix.

I dont get the freeze of death, running Windows 7 64bit also and no problems at all here (latest updates).

This game is awesome, really getting into it now I've finally reached level 20 - grouped up for the first time last night and had a templar tank and I was healing duties, was good!

Ugh, I couldn't agree more, my eyes start to bleed every time I go there, but there's not really a forum alternative, is there? I think I've read maybe 5-10 useful theorycrafting/explanatory threads in all the time I've been there, the rest is just "THINGS NCSOFT NEED TO DO TO STOP ME QUITTING" threads, as if anyone is listening.

Best website is aionarmory, I noticed that it shows the quests givers in every zone aswell! Just go to locations and then the zone and that map has them on them! very usefull if your wondering where to go next etc.

aionarmory is very good, really handy for the quests - told me about the changing channel to get npcs to spawn and also where some quests your meant to interact with an object but cant, again change channel.

I noticed yesterday that the other lvl 20+ area, Not morheihm has 2 channels! Was looking for that superviser guys for ages, Then changed instance and he was standing right next to me! Talk about lucky..

shows how much i pay attention to these forums :p never noticed the aion thread >.>

playing on castor EU Elyos faction.

Also suffered from the crash problem just not as bad as some people, i7 920 @3.6ghz 6GB Ram and GTX 260 Windows 7 RC 64 bit

Last crashed on Sunday but have not run into a situation where it would crash since just been grinding pretty quietly and theres the maintenence now :( so need to test if it really has been fixed.

Crash rarely in eltnan, probably only during peak times where the place is rampacked with people, crashed twice during a seige assault. Shift+F12 helps me a lot, although its not great at all but it will do until a fix comes along, not like I can play at max settings with my GTX 260 anyway fps drops a crap load at 1680x1050 in abyss during big fights see fps of like 10-30, fluctating.

Never expected an MMO to be graphics hungry :/ so probably looking into upgrading my video card at some point, just a shame the 5870 and 5850 is supposed to be pretty bad in Aion well not bad but the GTX 285 is supposed to be better due to the drivers not doing much with the cryengine, but not gonna pay 300 for a 285 since thats pretty much going backwards with the 5870 costing the same, so hopefully ATI get some drivers out that gives aion a huge boost and then i can think about upgrading or have to wait for Nvidias GT300 Series which will probably cost like 500 -.-;;.

Well the game came through my letter box at around 12:00 Tuesday, I went to bed at 8:30 Wednesday :D

I think I can safely say I'm really loving this game. Loving the graphics, the look and feel of it all, loving the areas and the quests and the detail in the story, loving the combat and skill chains and most of all loving my Templar :D

I ended up on the Kalil server, less people at higher levels, lower population overall, so I can get in on the ground floor so to speak. Lvl 15 now, waiting for this damn maintenance to end so I can keep playing :)

First 15-20lvls in any mmo are always very good. Just wait for the grind from lvl 25+ and your excitement will be all but gone.

My glad is lvl 40 and I can make 4mil xp an hour (need 42m to level up) 10 hours gameplay to level up is not too bad at all considering the cap is 50.

1) Completely not true, Durotar in WoW was one of the worst starting zones I can think of, in fact I reckon it would be pretty difficult to willfully design a more boring or uninspired zone. Compared to that, this game is some sort of design god.

2) We'll see about that, you use 'grind' in the pejorative sense obviously because you have a negative view of Aion, but there has never been an MMO that hasn't included massive grinding elements, that's what they are. I'm looking forward to it, I've always liked late night grinding with some decent music on, or a podcast or whatever. And I think it's a good thing that it's going to be months before a majority of people are at the level cap, it was so easy to hit it in WoW there was barely any sense of achievement at all.
