**Official** Aion RELEASE Thread

I logged into Perento during the free week and there were quite a lot of peeps about, but then maybe half of the peeps were also logging in for free time ;p

The new patch is going on the test server start of May, think it's the one with the gfx update and tons of changes/tweaks so I'll probably have another look then, I just hope the rumours of it going f2p in the west have substance :p

I'm planning to get back into this with the 2.5 patch, can you just buy the original box that you can pick up for a fiver or have there been some paid for expansions since release that you also must buy?

Im reinstalling this, i havent played since about 3 months after release. Just fancy giving it another go.

Semiskimmed add me to steam, we could play together :)

Steam name: bakes0310

im still downloading Bakes, will probably be done in the morning but im still mulling it over, if i should resub at the moment.
i cant really find any feedback from anyone about how the game is atm!

i played a couple of months ago, a lot more refined...but to be honest I really missed the days of the korean beta :) where the servers were mega busy and it was easy to get a party going.
just not that many people playing nowadays really and those that do are up their own a-holes and soloing is often a dangerous and boring affair especially when the enemies just spawn behind and in front of you as they please!

now if only they made it f2p !!!!

Join us during the Reactivation Celebration week as we take to the skies of Atreia to make new friends, new adversaries, and crush the Balaur once and for all.
There's no better time to be in Aion!

So are we finally at the stage where all that made up stuff they put in that video about a year ago is finally in - the housing, the snowfall on the ground, the underwater stuff?

No, didn't think so

the update is just short of 4gig and includes the gfx update..but the kicker is I'm told the 64bit stuff, yes including gfx, doesnt work so its been disabled !! hehe

apparantly theres a way to play with the overhaul but it involves some moving of files and renaming, I'll test when the 10days free is activated :)

yeah re subbed but slowly losing interest again.
Lvling is a lot faster and it looks more polished but its still the same old unbalanced broken game.
I've ended up joining a PvE legion..
It takes about 2 months to save up for one good solid pvp item and then your looking at a few hundred million kinah just to enchant it to +10.
But there is still no battlegrounds to go and PvP :/

The next MMO making its inevitable way to being free-to-play is NCsoft’s Aion, the flying game that does its best to never let you fly. Come next February and you’ll not need to pay to get into the game, via the powers of Gameforge. This is, say Eurogamer, NCsoft’s plan to “boost player numbers in Europe”. In other words, people aren’t playing the disappointing Western incarnation of the MMO, and they want to reawaken the servers. And this is a long-proven method.

Of course, there’s no such thing a free launch, and there will be opportunities to pay for things. For instance, there’s a Gold Package which will secure you everything in the game, along with “bonuses”. In other words, you’ll level faster, as well as have shorter queues for instances and better loot. But they promise these are only time saving measures, and won’t imbalance things.

Those who already had subs will become Veterans, even if their sub already expired. You’ll get the whole game, forever, just for having ever subbed. Not bad.

In fact, non-payers will have all classes, areas, quests, equipment, individualisations, professions and PvP. So what don’t you get?

“To protect our players against bots and gold sellers, several game options such as chat and trading will be restricted for starters.”

Other than that, it really does just seem to be a slower XP climb. People who’ve already paid beyond February will be refunded, so it’s worth chucking in any pre-paid codes you may have now, as they’ll be useless after the switch from NCsoft to Gameforge.

Unfortunately the idiotholes have put their promotional advertising trailer for this news on their site in an unembeddable format.

nice, it might make me return. I had some awesome pets. :)
Unfortuanately the Korean beta was so good that when it came round to the actual release I was not feeling it with the UK crowd.

Wow, that's good news. It's obvious NCWest can't support the game enough to justify a monthly sub. Aion is a good game but paying monthly for it makes you feel obligated to get your monies worth.

Free to play always brings players back, especially if it's done right and judging by that article it looks to be very fair considering what they could have done. Lineage II has just seem a huge boost in players which is amazing for an 8 year old MMO.
