nice scores there Kap. What memory speeds are you using, as your physics scores are much better than my 3930 compared to your 3960

That would explain the higher Physics scores, mem speed does help obviously along with the 3960k vs my 3930k and 1866 RAM.

The memory speed and timings make a big difference, but there is practically no difference between the 3960X and 3930k clock for clock. I use a 3930k with my Titans and it is faster than both my 3960X and 3970X lol.

Does that not sour the purchase of the 3960X and 3970X? Considering how they're both twice the price of the 3930K?

tbh, unless you are after prestige or have the money, then yes.

Surely spending over £400 on a CPU would be enough to feel like you own something prestigious.

That aside, buying for prestige is, well incredibly lame as it's throwing money at something so that people think something of you for it.

As practically, there's no difference between a 3930K and 3960X that justifies a doubling of price. Maybe 10-20% more maximum for the unlocked multiplier.

It's the double the price thing that bothers me the most.

I still haven't properly pushed my 3930K as I am very unsure of what's what with proper X79/SBE overclocking.

Diagro try the new AMD driver and see if you get a higher score. I posted the driver link in this thread.

That score you posted there is faster than my 7950's @1200/1600 btw. Assuming you used the same settings as in the Unigine Valley thread.
