***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

Making some good progress now!

May try and knock the vcore down a tad, but happy at the overclock :)

good going your cinebench dont look right though mine is higher at 4.8 its because you only have multiplier overclock you will get better score with fsb and multi overclock not putting you down at all thats good to hit 5ghz m8 :D

just saying it will improve score

Nice result there!

Could do with sharing your working settings for others to compare. This is so itching the upgrade scratch for me now.

Thanks!

To be honest just followed on here, cranked up the volts and went from there! Maybe lucky!?

To be honest for a couple of points it doesn't bother me a great deal! Just knocked the volts down to 1.52 and temps idle are 15 degrees moving to 45 at 100% load.

Happy with that!

PCZ, you were right on the FPU testing bringing the heat! Mine hit 66 on the core before I stopped it! That was on level 1 fan setting on my H80. It stabalized at 60° if I used fan level 2 but that is far too loud for daily use.

Have it running FPU, CPU & Cache now and it's stable at 55° on fan level 1, nice and quiet. Will have to see how fairs in a BF3 session. Think I need to get some quieter fans, or maybe the Corsair Link Commander if it will let me adjust the fan speeds for level 1, 2 and 3. The jump in speeds as standard is ridculous, you have nice and quiet, way too loud, and take off. :D

How come your cinebench shows 8 cores and 8 threads, wheras ours show 4c/8t?

I think it is because Ging hasn't installed the windows scheduler patch.
MS released it so the BD chips would be treated more like the HT i7's.

Not much you can do with that H80 except maybe replace the stock fan with two quieter ones in push pull.

Could be correct as I have just installed everything again today and updates are still to be done.

Better scores now I knocked volts down to 1.512.

Not going to play with it any more! Just enjoy it now :)

morning guys i have bitfenix case dude and there fans are rubbish look good but performance is dreadful they dont push out anywhere near what they say tbh defo change them i changed all my spectre pros for typhoons

I've realised this!

I replaced the fans with the stoclk fans from a kuhler 920 (planning on putting this on my 7970) and it's not throttling anymore on prime small ffts :)

It's now just very hot - 70 degrees and also sounds like a jet engine. Think I might send the spectres back and get some NF-F12s

You may have throttled a bit with the higher voltage.

BTW put spoiler tags around your screenshots or reduce them down to 1280 MAX.
The mods may remove them otherwise.

Done :) Thought I had set image shack to do that size, nevermind!

Yeah think it was being throttled as my gfx card also increased the score on open GL test.

has my thread made you wanna spend your pennies lol

any ideas on how to reduce socket temps 5 ghz im not liking temps will post results once im stable socket is hitting 67 ideas guys?

Cooling the VRms should help with socket temps. And having a fan behind the MB in the cut out blowing air towards it should help. Saying that though, my temps are still too high after trying these things.

What score do you get now? You have one of the newer 8350s, and they tend to be good clockers!

I've got 8.57 on cinebench.

That is good! Just done a new test but beacuse I am installing things it has gone down! I think I am at around 8.37ish.

I am tempted to push it a little further but happy with where I am at...coming from a Q6600 I hope the gaming experience will be very much a different story!

I really need to upgrade the HDD's as I am using about 5 - 6 year old ones so not too snappy!
