***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

That is good! Just done a new test but beacuse I am installing things it has gone down! I think I am at around 8.37ish.

I am tempted to push it a little further but happy with where I am at...coming from a Q6600 I hope the gaming experience will be very much a different story!

I really need to upgrade the HDD's as I am using about 5 - 6 year old ones so not too snappy!

You went with my spec if I remember? 5GHz stable straight out is pretty amazing. You will probably get some throttling above 1.5v on air, so it'll be worth tweaking it later to try get and volts lower and temps down.

If you've got it, try something like Crysis 3, the performance increase will be enormous.

Looks like 4.8 is my magic number. Pretty sure I could hit 5 with more volts, I was close to 4.9 but there's no point me running all the fans flat out, I'm not going to keep it like that for normal use.

Thanks for all your help guys, especially PCZ! I'm very happy :)

A few hours ago you could only boot at 4Ghz.
I expect you were feeling a bit low then.

4.8 is a good speed.

5Ghz isn't really for 24/7 use only for benching and showing off.

5GHz is fine if you've got a great chip and high end cooling, but yeah 4.8GHz is a great speed to get a £114 CPU to. Even at 4.5GHz the CPUs have no trouble keeping up with the latest games in SLI/Crossfire, etc.

Yep I was starting to wonder if I had a dud board or chip, God knows how long it would have taken me to think about ram timings! Can't thank you guys enough.

Also, just noticed how close this has taken me to MM access . . I feel a second 7850 on the cards . . :D

has my thread made you wanna spend your pennies lol

Yes it has want me spend pennies lol :D

GinG - I am still on a E8500 so should see a nice step up. I was wanting to see how the next APU from AMD faired before spending but that could take months...

Nice that this thread has really picked up. Starting to look more like the old Phenom 2 black edition threads

Yes not enuff 8350 threads we should keep this going

Yes I think the FX 83x0 need a thread of their own, interesting results and good for people who want to see how they perform.
