***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

Ah, to get it changed in the list maybe a moderator has to do it.

I think so it asked for a reason which I added maybe they have to check it first any mods around who can help?

Watch this space I guess!

Im itching to get oc to 5ghz now grrr

As we were talking last night biut cross fire ect due to me not getting any better results with sleeping dogs benchmark I ran

I found 2 7970 his reference design so I can water cool my question is are the HIS cards any good? Seller said there good overclockers are the voltage unlocked?

Cool are they voltage unlocked?

There a bargin for 2 7970's

Think im gonna buy them I know its overkill but future proof

to go with the one in your sig? are you upgrading the MB also?

2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

x8 x8 x4 isnt great on PCIe 2.0

Best bet would be to sell yours and grab a 7990 - works out cheaper for the 1 wc block for dual cards and can run in the full speed x16 slot.

It's about equivalent to 2x 7970 ghz, but might not clock as high. I'd go with the new sabertooth for PCIe3.0.

And the matrix platinums on today only here are a bargain. I wish I didnt shell out £300 a few months ago for my VTX 3d X-Edition one, it isn't volt locked though.

You're talking about 3x7970s? That's a huge amount of graphics power unless you're running on three screens or something.

no selling my current 7970 and getting a new one but i see 2 forsale and there pretty cheap no not running 3 bud lol i is new sabertooth as good as v formula?

i like my current crad maxes everything but i want whole system under water and this card cant plus i would like to clock card or at least have option to where as this card is voltage locked wont go over 1050 core 1550 mem

i have some spare cash so gonna overhaul system mobo, gpu and water on gpu

also new mobo will help with 5 plus as vrm on this board gets hot

Two 7970s under water will give great results. So would two 7950s if you want to keep costs down.

And use some punctuation! :p

Gah! I failed the BF3 test tonight, BSOD about 4 times in total, 3 of them at the same point in Exfiltration on Co-Op with a mate, so annoying. Dropped clocks back to 4.7, then 4.6, then 4.5, notched the GPU clocks down a bit, temps were all fine then realised . . RAM.

Have taken RAM back to 1300Mhz and no BSOD since but only played for half hour or so and run out of hours so will have to test again with RAM lowered and clocks back up to be sure that's the case though. God knows why this RAM is letting me down so much, I'm only running at the speed it was supposedly meant to be!
