***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

yeah my friend has an older one and his temps are high and he has a good air flow case and his voltage at same clock is 1.5 ish maybe tad under so im happy

so u think its normal to jump up on voltage on idle then

and yeah its a defo wind tunnel, only when benching to kepp temps down when im gaming i sacrifice higher temps for a slightly quieter system as i game with surround sound so noise is an issue but typhoons aren't as loud as i was led to believe when reading reviews before purchase

Yeah, voltages rarely stay absolutely fixed. It's a problem if it's jumping wildly about, small changes are normal. Be sure to check your cores aren't throttling too when you push it higher (just check the CPU speed doesn't drop). Your board has good VRMs, but it's not the same quality as say the Crosshair Formula Z.

i have a small fan near vrms and i plan to get crosshair formula soon i brought small rig last year to try pc gaming fell in love lol then built new rig last crimbo and have been addicted since i couldn't afford that mobo at the time (had baby) but this board does me for now my next investment is a new 7970 as made a noob mistake not knowing there voltage locked and being non reference i cant put it under water which annoys me as when i brought loop i brought 2 240 rads and cpu water block to find my card isn't reference grrr

we live and learn!

This is Cinebench for the 8320/50/9590 at 5GHz:

Some other multithreaded apps do better on AMD, e.g. rendering and encoding, but Cinebench is a typical one to test multithreading.

Yeah, 8.16 is quite a jump :p

The 9590 when running multithreaded apps will be at 4.7GHz, while yours is 4.8GHz - hence the increase. Impressive results.

thanks
do u know how i can add pics like u guys or do i need minimum post before i am able?

im happy with that i have apretty good gaming rig now

You need to upload the pics to a site like imgur.com and you can paste the line that says "BBCode (message boards & forums)" to get them to appear in a post.

You need to host the pictures somewhere like dropbox etc. Then when posting just click on the picture icon and it will ask you for the link to the picture.
