***official amd 83x0 overclocking thread***

I have some viper 1866 memory.
OC had it on special a while back.

9.10.9.27 cl2
wont overclock at all and timings have to be 9,10,9,27 9,9,9,27 is a no go.
I actually have 4 sticks of it running in a sabertooth with an 8320.

You can leave the HT at 2600 if you want, probably makes little or no difference.

Try the NB at 2400 then 2600, your NB could be an epic clocker and you can go higher but you wont know less you try.
NB volts up to around 1.3 - 1.4 if necessary

I think new memory is a defo thinking of Samsung green unless you guys fhink ankther brand is good but I read Samsung are great I haven't had chance to test anymore tonight but will tomorrow im new to overclocking so much to learn as I read these posts but I have the bug.

Also the guy who said couple post back about benching and overclocking ourselves I agree totally I find great self achievement in knowing I accomplished this with trial and error and NOT forgetting your input guys to steer me in right direction way better than reading a how to guide :D

I saw a post from you a while back in another thread today saying how you couldn't get 8350s above 4.5GHz - nice to see you've proved yourself wrong :p

Yeah I got to 4.5 alone just frombresding post here and there and slowly but surely im getting to gripsbwith overclocking kinda lol its trial and error but after spending days badhing my head against desk as im sure we all have done. I seem to be getting there and as you say teppic im provimg my self wtong as I progress haven't had time tonight although im iitching to lol I will order some new ram tomorrow shocked at how much samsungs have risen but my ram is pants and new gpu after anf I will be happy with rig

I think the Samsung Green is too expensive at the moment. RAM overclocking might help a little bit with performance but I'm not sure it'd be worth the extra. The FX chips show large improvements over the APUs (which don't have L3 cache), so it must make a difference compared to normal RAM.

If you've got some games with built in benchmarks give those a try, it'd be interesting to see them at 4.8GHz.

I have bf3 cyris 3 been reading today about using there command console. Will give it a shot tomorrow to show you the results just haven't had chance tonight, so you think stick with my ram for now?

Will try fsb and multi combo tomorrow see how that holds up after a everyday gaming oc but that performs best for performance

I'd leave RAM for now especially with prices so high.

Increasing the FSB is definitely worth a shot. A lot of people recommend 225-230MHz for PD.

Will wait till drops if I wont gain much performance

I wilk give fsb for sure do u think 4.8 is to much for everyday use?

If so I will just try to get best performance with fsb multi combo and be happy

Will order new gpu tomorrow then and hold off on ram until price drops

4.8GHz is fine - remember the 9590 is clocked to boost to 5GHz out of the box, and it's the same CPU. If you can get to 5GHz without going much over 1.5v you could do that too.

So anything under 1.5 volts is safe for everday use in theory?

Yeah true there if im right the 9590 is hand picked best 8350 chips they kept back for 9590?

Will try for 5 would be sweet this is addictive stuff think this forum has a lot to do with that

Started out with athlon triple core on matx board and gtx650 and got hooked after coming on here and went on mad shopping spree Last 12 months lol

As long as your temps are ok you can run 1.5v.

By the look of things AMD could release the 9590 because their process improved enough to get 5GHz clocks on PD easily enough to guarantee it. There's no real evidence than an 8350 can't clock just as high as a 9590.

I will take the challenge to test that theory I do like a challenge :)

5 ghz here we come I hope lol

Putting my gpu under water should help my ambient temps or not?

Fan I put behind socket defo helped just need to experiment if intakr or exhaust is better have tried both yet currently intake bloeing on socket

Yup, unless you've got two GPUs in there 750w is fine. A full system with a 9590 flat out on all cores (WPrime) and the GPU idle consumes about 250W, about 70W idle.

I have the same motherboard and its stable only at 4.6ghz. However i can get it to 4.8 and wont crush on anything but its not stable on thoese cpu stable test software. When i get it to 5ghz its when sometimes it retarts my pc

That may just be the CPU rather than the board. Though 5GHz stable is much better with a Sabertooth or Crosshair Formula Z.

Yep if i really want 4.8 stable or 5 you do need one of those boards, which is why im looking to upgrade soon. But to be fair for how i use my pc leaving it a stock would be more than enough.
