***Official AMD Mantle Thread***

I don't see this being the end of Mantle, Huddy said that they saw a place for Mantle along side DX12. From all reports AMD helpped with creating DX12 so they should've known abou it it for some time. I can't see why anything that's happened recently would change that.

It's only been 15 months (?) and it's not gotten out of BETA (or is it still Alpha?) yet so it seems a bit early for AMD to pull the plug on something they (and their fans/users) hyped so much.

If this is what AMD are doing with Mantle after it has made it into nearly a dozen or so games, what hope does true audio have that has only made it into a couple.

Not a good day.

Hopefully it just means they are now working quietly on Mantle 2.0 to sort some other issues that devs have asked for a fix that DX doesnt cover.

I don't think it will get dropped after all the efforts and trumpet blowing. It probably needs more games to back it though, AMDMatt what are the whispers from reliable sources saying?

He won't tell you anything. Other AMD people have said to wait till March 5th when more info will be released.

I've finally got round to playing Battlefield 4 (campaign, not fussed about the multiplayer) and have to say I'm most impressed with Mantle. 3K VSR, looks great and plays extremely smoothly.

I'm going to be uploading a QuadFire Battlefield 4 Mantle video soon. It's for people who like to game at 250-400 FPS. :)

Glad to hear it Greg, it will show you what smooth multi gpu gaming is like, for the first time no doubt! :p

No, Greg has Nvidia cards, so he'll be well aware of smooth multi GPU gaming since before AMD introduced the software fix for the 7000 series cards. :D

Also, Greg will get to experience it on recent games instead of, what was BF4, 2013? :p

I am sure it will be sweetly smooth for you Matt, and I assume you will be running it on a Freesync monitor so you can experience G-Sync like smoothness like I do? :p

The wording of that blog post makes me worry for Mantle's future.

Especially this bit:
AMD will continue to support our trusted partners that have committed to Mantle in future projects, like Battlefield™ Hardline, with all the resources at our disposal.

Enough talk, time for action. :)

Mantle.

Video is private it says :D

Thanks for the heads up, corrected. :p

I welcome any comparisons from fellow DirectX users.

EDIT

Man youtube has butchered the quality!

I had some problems with the recording and virtualdub would not let me convert it, kept giving me errors for some reason.
