*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

I am on about those moments in games where the AI appear to have clairvoyant abilities. Played many games where I have been concealed in foliage, shot someone who was 600m away and watched as the people stood around him at the time immediately head in my direction and start shooting directly at me. Does Arma2 do this?
Yes, lots.

In regards to the times in games when the AI suddenly spins round and immediately shoots you in the head when you are approaching them, I could understand that happening occassionally if they are hearing you, but not every single time. At least not unless each enemy soldier has been genetically engineered with Steve Austin hearing. Does that happen in Arma 2?
Not really.

I think the problem isn't that the AI are particuarly god-like in terms of aiming, its the fact that their sight is not affected by trees/foliage/walls/smoke or even sometimes full on buildings - so it is very frustrating when there are 500m of dense trees and long grass between you and them, you cant see a god damn thing yet they see you only too well, as if you're standing in the middle of an open field.

Pre-ordered mine :D

Going to play the demo first though before I take it out of the plastic in case I don't like it (if the game arrives before the demo). I doubt I won't enjoy it though, it looks awesome.

So essentially the consensus is - it's very buggy (as was original ArmA), patches are not ready for international launch (as they weren't with original ArmA). Is that correct?

The reason I'm asking is because I bought original ArmA back in a day, and so many years and patches later it is still buggy and exruciating to play (as an example, finishing missions by crawling 7 kms across hills because I got shot through the buiding, from 1km distance while prone). What's worse, the original ArmA on my PC never looked as good as many screenshots I saw. I now have dual 4870 in crossfire and it still looks like unfinished mod for Operation Flashpoint. So, in essence - if ArmA2 is the same, buggy, unfinished and with crazy AI settings, then I'm not going to waste time with it this time around?

Exactly how i feel. The reviews it has received already don't look good. Might play the demo and check more reviews before i decide to waste/invest £30.

Well I cannot yet comment on the AI though I've heard its similarly leathal to Arma 1 (kills you 500m+ through bushes/trees), I can however say it is buggy like Arma with textures flickering and loading slowly.

Its sad really all they had to do was make the original OFP with 2007/8/9 graphics and I would be hooked. I felt let down with Arma 1 but I still bought Arma 2 I just hope they patch it up quickly this time or it will also be gathering dust and I certainly wont make the mistake a 3rd time!.

Heard the ai is a lot better this time but performance is not as optimised as it could be. Its disappointing how simple they seem to make the physics but main thing is whether the gameplay works or not. Also not heard much mention of netcode and basic playability
Dont forget aa3 is out on this weekend also
