**Official Asus A8N-SLI Premium Thread**

Is any one experiancing SLi Problem when running BF2?

I have A8N-Prem, 2x Leadtek 6800GTs, 1gig OCZ PC4800 platinum RAM @ 275 mhz. 3800 Venice @ 2750mhz.

When I run a 3D 05 benchy I get about 10,000. But when in BF2 I can't even runn at 1024x768 at full wack rez!! This is crazy!

I have been checking my AI selector, no joy. It is selected to run in SLi with the nVidia setting. What am I missing? I am on BIOS 1009.

Also, I experance large Lag spikes. Even when at i26, I was randomly pinging upto 400 for about 3-4 seconds. I have been checking for Virus', no joy. I run AVG, Ad-Aware SE and have sygate personal firewall. So nothing should be leaking through!

Any person(s) have a solution for the above problem?

Thanks

Hi all, for some reason my ASUS SLI Premium won't boot.
It gets to the ACPI controller on the PCI device listing and halts there.

I am trying to flash the BIOS to see if this fixes it but how do I do this with the ASUS, is there a Flash Util to use?

Thanks for any help

I have just RMA'ed my mobo (A8N Premium) and cpu (X2 4400+) as I thought the mobo was faulty,as there was no post after booting I reseated cpu gfx etc.I have tested the GFX Card (XFX 6600GT) and the ram (Geil Value 2x1GB) and they are both working.Couldnt test the other components.

I have a Aerocool Turbine Power 550W psu. When i connected the psu i used the 24pin power connector and the molex. But didnt connect the ATX12V connection as i thought this was part of the 24pin connector as it can be used as a 20 and 24 pin.The 4 pin part can be unclipped but cant reach the ATX12V. I have just got my psu box out and there is a P8 to P4 cable is this the correct cable for the ATX12V. Is this why i was getting no post.I am now thinking it has been a waste of time for the RMA, and i could have my new system up and running?
What is the ATX12V connector for? Does it have to be connected? The green LED was working on the board when i was testing aswell.

Think i have made a silly mistake.

Thanks,

Justin

Hi,
Did you ever get around the problem of the ATX12v cable being too short ? Did you use the P8 to P4+P4 cable ? I'm in the same situation, just come to plug in my new Aerocool Turbine Power 550W psu and have found the 4pin connector wont reach the ATX12v socket. Anyone else help me please ?

I have just installed this board and the following......
x2 4400
gf 7800gtx
1 sata
1ide
1 dvd

Does this board undervolt as my readings are as follows...

Vcore 1.38 (set to 1.4 in bios)
+3.3v @ 3.2v
+5v @ 4.81v
+12v @ 11.71

Im getting a bit worried that it could be my PSU?

any ideas?
Thanks

I don't know about undervolt (with regards regulating for RAM and CPU) but it certainly misreads voltages as far as I can tell. My 12V line reads as 11.9V in the BIOS or MotherBoard Monitor (with a reasonable amount of variation), but a multimeter on a fan header reveals 12.05V consistently (i.e. no variation).

Yours do seem a little low (lower than mine) but it could still be fine. If you can get your hands on a multimeter you can easily check the 12 and 5 volt rails from a molex connector (just make sure not to short anything!!). That will help determine if your PSU is alright. Obviously don't try this unless you are completely happy!

Hope this helps,

Martin

I see the latest official BIOS still doesn't give more volts for X2 CPU's :( Bit of a joke really.

As soon as the DFI Expert is out over here I'll be moving to that I think, need more volts!

Ah nuts, how did I manage to miss this?! Been used to DFI for so long I took it for granted that there'd be a decent vcore range, doh!!!

What is the max vcore available for X2 chips? I think I'm running at 2.5Ghz @ 1.45v or something at the moment, but was looking forward to stretching the legs of this chip once all watercooled...

I was wondering if anyone has a general overclocking walkthrough guide for this specific board BIOS V.1009 (I think)

System spec:

AMD A64 4000+ SD
2GB OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series EL-DDR CAS2
2 x 36 GB 10,000 RPM Raptors in RAID 0
Leadtek GeForce 7800 GTX Extreme Edition 256MB
XP-PRO

Plenty of air cooling, ThermalRight XP-90C HS attached to the CPU with a nice big fan.

Basically I would love someone if they A: have the time and patience and B: have the know how, to run through the options on the mobo and help me configure them to get a half decent Overclock on air for this setup.

I know its not the right attitude, but my friend bought the Intel Centreno setup for his current Intel mobo and overclocked it well enough with his AGP Radeon GFX card (probably the top model) and beats me on 3DMark by a few hundred points, and it cost him not even a 1/4 of what I spent lol so I want to get some of my own back :) as well as push my system a little harder in the way of what its capable of.

Thanks for any assistance guys, I will remember you on my Xmas lottery list :)

As 3D2k5 is 95% affected by the G/C speed get the latest drivers and enable the overclocking tab using coolbits and use the detect optimal frequencies tab to find a starting point.

As for the MB try

HTT frequency x4
FSB 220mhz
multiplier max
memory at 2.5 3 3 7
cpu volts 1.425v
chipset volts 1.6v
HTT volatge 1.25v
memory volts 2.7-2.8v

If this works either increse FSB or tighten the memory timings

I know this question has probably been answered so sorry for sounding like a complete *****, but as I'm using an SATA drive, will I need to download the SATA drivers to floppy and install them by bashing F6 like I had to with the NF2 boards in order to get the board to recognise there is a drive attached or have they made it easier?

Andy

Right: Installation was a complete mare. I had to disable the nV RAID from BIOS in order to get the board to recognise that I had a drive installed. All went tickety boo from then on in. (Hitachi drive seems faster than my bleedin Raptor!)
Tad worried about why I have a "Safely Remove Hardware" tab on the taskbar tho, I'm hoping it's as SATA II it's merely as it's hot swap able?

I thought the "Safely Remove Hardware" tab was to do with USB devices? I've got the Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 in SATA 2 II mode attached to the nVidia SATA and I don't get that tab.

You are aware that the Hitachi Deskstar's are set to SATA and not SATA II out of the box? You have to download the Feature Tool to turn SATA II mode on.

Even when I installed the NVRAID drivers (both of them from the "makedisk" app on the CD) it still wouldn't allow to continue with installation. I had to disable NVRAID completely and use the nForce 4 slots. Odd

Good to know it's not just me with the Removable Drive thing too.

Zico: Being as it's coming up as hot swappabl as it is doesn't that indicate it's already SATA II compliant? The lnk you gave just seems like a diagnostic tool?

Scroll down to the Feature Tool, the top program is a Diagnostic tool. You would need to get the diagnostic tool if you were to ever RMA the drive as they ask you to check the drive with it before you send it back.

I am wondering now why I don't have the Removeable Drive tab. The only thing that I can think of that might mean mine isn't shown as Removeable is due to the fact that I have 2 partitions on the drive. I guess if it were made removeable for C: then it would screw up the other partition.
