** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Does anybody know if the egg shaped fan is better than the shroud version on the 5770. I have always preferred fans that exhausted the hot air out of the case over ones that just dump it into the case.

It just seems about on par tbh not really had a good play clocking yet, and the air exhausted into your case shouldn't be a problem at all to anything else so long as you have decent air flow

I concure.

I was horrified when I opened the box, HOWEVER, it is very quiet and is cooling well. Doing a grand job.

Definitely prefer the look of the OEM cards but if these do the job just aswell maybe better (not experimented enough yet) then I do not care overall

I was after 2 asus cards with the shroud but they have the new cooler. If it's equal I'll get old style coolers, i just prefer that look and how it removes the heat.

Fair enough, I didn't chose this cooler, OcUK are advertising the Powercolor as the old style cooler when they actually have purely non reference cards in.

So I was a bit duped if you like but it didn't bother me enough to return it really

^^ Likewise. Would have been nice to know it was going to be like this, however I doubt it would have made me not buy it.

My now previous card didn't blow air out the back either, and the last few times I've heard blower coolers on ATI cards I've wished I hadn't! :p

Loving how quiet this is at the moment, doesn't seem to be heating up my case at all :)

Same, not affected any of my temperatures at all. Maybe that'll change when I add the second tommorow.

Will be interested to know if the second card makes any noticable difference to temperatures. The older I get the quieter I want my pc to be so maybe the new style cooler would be better.

Cheers Tom. Multiple as in Crossfire? Or multiple as in different ones over period of time?

And presumably you going for CF 5770s?

I've had a 4870x2, two different 4870's and can say the 5770 is much quieter than all and yea I got another 5770 coming tommorow. The 5870 was remarkably quiet aswell!

So.. Is it worth Hopping from a 4870 512mb.. to a 5770?

Resolution 1920x1200...

My question didn't get an answer on the last page :p

I got one of the Powercolors before it was on offer, then it came on offer today so I thought stuff it and ordered another!

And why not! :p

The ones for 119?

Regarding the bloke above asking whether 4870 is better than 5770 or vice versa. It seems the 5770 is only worthwhile if you get in crossfire.

By the way, is there a lot of faffing around in drivers/software to configure games in crossfire?
