** Official ATI 5770 Thread **

Lol I've caved in and ordered another 5770, after doing some maths it seems I'll have still pocketed 55 quid from the 5870 sale so I'm still quids in with a solution that matches and beats it!

Went for the Powercolor on offer

Another one falls to the temptation of CF 5770's :D

I really cant resist at that value!

Plus quids in still with 55 quid pocket change a nice return I guess, looked at some reviews and thought bloody hell these are good in Xfire

CF 5770s are better for the money than a 5870 though :)

One 5770 is just pants though:

The crossfire scalling on these is very impressive.

Yeah 1GHz is easy enough with a small vgpu bump. :)

You will probably find you can max out the CCC at 960MHz on stock volts no fuss.

I needed the following voltages (stock volts is 1.125):

960 Mhz @ 1.164v
1000 Mhz @ 1.225v
1025 Mhz @ 1.250v
1050 Mhz @ 1.3v.

The last two weren't stable though.

Ive seen two other people need 1.174 and 1.264v for 1000 mhz, so it varies a fair bit between different cards.

LOL, you sold your 5870 because you said you didn't game that much then you blow £240 on a xfire setup..you crazy man.:D

Yup hilarious, i wouldn't have even bothered with a 5770.

He's using a PS3 now for gaming, why he sold the 5870, as he doesn't use his PC anymore, so why blow £240 on 5770 Xfire. :p

Can i get an OWNED.

Looking at some results for xfire 5770 on guru3d, its a bloody good setup and TBH I would have went that way if I was not an impatient so and so, happy with the 5870 though.

Hi. I already did this. Its a 61 mm diagonal spacing, same as the 4770. I actually wanted a quad heatpipe Zalman VF2000, but these are specified to be incompatible with diagonal distances of less than 75 mm.

However, be aware that the dual DVI outputs box is very close to the GPU, and restricts the use of wider coolers.
The VF950 is currently the ideal dual slot cooler for it, and the Arctic L2 pro also fits but is a triple slot cooler making it pants for crossfire.

Cheers for that. That's really narrow. My blocks won't fit then as they are 75mm diagonally. Time for some new blocks i suppose.

I got my Temp down from 85 to 77:

I had put twice as much thermal paste on my second card and just rotated them around, it just seems that my high temperatures before were due to too little thermal paste.

On the first card I used a minimal amount, just a small blob in the centre, on the second I accidentally squeezed out a double amount.

Seems that I actually didnt put enough paste on the first one. This was 77 degrees with my room already heated up, previously I were getting 85 in a cold room on the card with less paste.

bhavv thanks for help i changed the paste from stock to MX3 was a right bugger to spread more like blue tak lol. any way i loaded up torchlight (the game) for some reason the front screen stress the crap out my cards much more then the gameplay. Any way before load temps would 80c now they hit 68! thats a massive drop change the paste fast guys!

fan speed didt go over 50% as the noise drives me mad and thats with card oc to 850/1250

I currently have one 4890 and am deciding weather to buy another one for crossfire, or sell it and buy two 5770s? I know theres the dx11 point etc, but whats people opinions, and what you would do?

You dont have to spread te paste by the way, just place it in the sentre and the heatsink pressure will sqeeze it out :)

I should buy some MX3, I'm using MX2 still.

Hey guys, as not even Jesus can buy a 5850, and given that my GTX260 is dying with grpahics curruption.

How capable are these cards? A bit of an overclock gets them at same level as standard 5850?

Will these be ok for Bad company 2?

Does anybody know if the egg shaped fan is better than the shroud version on the 5770. I have always preferred fans that exhausted the hot air out of the case over ones that just dump it into the case.
