*** Official Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread ***

To be fair Battlefield has always felt more 'sluggish' than the Call of Duty games. It's not as if it's something new to BFBC2.

I feel that the game could do with a bit of polish but in general I much prefer it to any other FPS on the Xbox.

My main wishes for the game are:

  • Health bar
  • More robust request system (request ammo/health etc)
  • Remove health regeneration - what's the point?
  • Add ammo and reload indicators to vehicles (tanks/helicopters/UAV)

I'd just like to add a 5-10 second delay between pressing the spot button. or though from looking at the beta fixes it seems this has already been done and didnt make it in to this build.

health regen isnt on in hardcore but I agree it should be off in normal as well
 
Just so you guys know the spot spamming wont be in the final game. They tweaked it and it didnt go in to the demo build

Also they just tw@tted to say the hardcore mode will be double damage.
 
Excellent. Hardcore mode will make this game for me. Hopefully its similar to the stylings of MW2, no HUD, extra damage (as you said), no cursor etc.

Yep here's whats confirmed about hardcore


No hud
no mini map
no spotting
no health regen
and double damage.
 
It is indeed a demo, feels like pre-alpha though.

Agree, the random jogging thing was really annoying me last night. Seemed like every time I went to take a shot at someone. If its to do with near by explosions then great but I'd prefer to see it completely removed if they cant implement it properly

Does feel extremely unpolished the more I play. I'm still seeing great potential though and I'm keeping my pre-order.
 
Will chip in again with a change of opinion; this is very good, much better playing in a good squad or with friends. Has a lot of potential. Takes a bit of getting used to but it feels like a more challenging/interesting/varied game than MW2. Vehicles add another dimension, bigger maps, more focus on team play etc. Had some BF2-esque moments playing on Saturday. :)

Will be ordering this.

My last few games have been sublime. The more I've played the more its clicked. Going to try not to cane it too much now.
 
In case anyone cares the ps3 and xbox demo are a 6 week old build meaning it will have had a further 2 months polishing by launch

But how can you contain yourself if you kept getting shot by the same person all the time? I'd want to know where they are so I can rip their balls off.

Well if its a repeat offender and I've got good map knowledge and good surround sound I'll know where they are. For me the kill cam isnt just bad because it shows you attackers positions its because you can see whos with them and pass that info on to alive people.

For instance

"hey guys I just got shot from a sniper in that building....oh wait there....there's four of them in there with 2 medics."
 
Hmm I see your point.

I'm not saying I'm going to be a pure hardcore man though. I still think core will be good. But the killcam thing does bug me.

At the moment I use it to my advantage. Knowing that person has certain info can mean trapping or throwing them off is easy. For instance for the first 5 seconds after each kill I either travel in a different direct if I dont want to trap them. Or I just sit down for 5 seconds like I'm bedding in - I then relocate and watch that spot....oh look who's coming :D
 
Maybe a HUD icon for locating what you need would be good as well. I'm sure there's times when there's probably ammo in the next room to me.
