*** Official Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread ***

I'm tempted to get this even though the demo didn't impress me that much. I want to play it, but I just know that it is going to start getting on my nerves after a few weeks (probably more like hours :p) because people are going to be running around not doing what they are supposed to :p

If it would fall in price I would pick it up without a second thought, but I'm just not comfortable spending £35 on a MP game that I will only play for a few weeks. I know it will drop eventually, but in a few months I won't care anymore because I will have plenty of other games to play online.
 
Only played a couple of hours but seems a solid game much like its predecessor but just like it's predecessor the graphics are annoying and distracting. The amount of shimmering and popping shadows are ridiculous. I keep mistaking enemies for graphical glitches.. Need to sacrifice some draw distance!

Sacrificing draw distance takes the point out of Battlefield, and there's only so much the consoles can do before it begins to struggle with the amount that's going on (it's not a particular issue on the PC version). I think it strikes a great balance of graphics and gameplay. I'm personally surprised it's still at 1280x720 to be honest! Not many games can boast that really.

Sacrifice overall graphics quality then I would be in favour of it.. the graphics aren't terrible but they are very distracting.

Others may well not agree with me but unless EA/Dice sort out the balancing issue with Snipers this game is going to be short lived with anyone who actually wants team play.

I have just finished playing a game of Rush and I was the only person (12 vs 10) trying to attack the crates. It was a complete and utter joke tbh :(

I really want the game to be great as it has so much potential but it needs addressing pronto.
 
i assume you don't need to kill all 20 in one demolish, i have about 10 so far.

as for the friend one, prehaps he has a lot of friends lol

and sometimes if you try to join a game one of your friends is in it will put you on the other team as there team is full, this is a good time to get that one
 
You need to play with friends to get the best out of it. I'm very lucky because I have a SomethingAwful forums account and the massive friends list to go along with it. At one point it was 4 squads of 4 SA members each - we had a few teams almost completely ragequit because they just kept getting steamrolled with 1-2 minute Rush rounds or 4-point base Conquest captures :p

Those who play with friends or private squad/teams tend to enjoy the game way more.

Quoted for truth! Most games need team work for the MP side to work well, but BF has always needed you to work in squads, with everyone taking on a needed roll to play.

Due to work and family commitments I only get to do my gaming on Thursdays, hence i've been adding a few people off of here to play with when I do get to game. I don't have the time to wast on general free for all, I enjoy my MP gaming with a little teamplay. It's a shame there are no dedicated servers for the consoles, would be much better with a decent community.

I hear you and I do have a friend with the game, also a couple of others have it that I could join up with but that doesn't account for the rest of the players not following the objectives :(

Don't get me wrong I always join a squad and sometimes it works really well but unfortunately other times your on a server full of muppets.

TBH I think I'm just annoyed with myself for choosing this over MAG and expecting something different from the solo play of MW2.

Got the knife friends by joining a friends match when his team is full. The demolish is easy if you use the mortar on the building with the m-comm inside.

If anyone wants to play tomorrow add me on XBL.

As for playing with a squad I've actually stopped playing this game on my own (most of the time). Its not that its a terrible experience its just amazing with a full squad. You're pretty much unstoppable with 2 medics, 1 engineer and 1 assault.

The amount of recons are annoying...IMO they should put a limit on it. Defo no more then one in a squad.
 
I'm loving this so far with or without snipers. Tbh there easy to flank and stick a knife in which winds 'em up :)

Please can you add me to the Xbox list, would be nice to play in a team. I have my Privacy settings on so I can play MW2 with mates without having the hear the screaming kiddies, so having more people on my friends list would mean more people I can hear :p
 
Soz again Soulja for not accepting your invite last night. I was mid-game with a real-life friend and we were right in the thick of it.

I got massively fed up last night. We were on Nelson Bay and we got totally steamrolled. Me and my friend were the only people even trying to defend the MCOM stations. I don't think I want to play this game without a full squad of people that I know on my team.

If you're around tonight Soulja, perhaps we can get a large team going?
