*****Official BBQ Thread - Suns out, Buns out!*****

I'm quite jealous of buying a new weber, hope you enjoy it.

I use weber briquettes, normally pay around £10-£12 for an 8kg bag - they are normally more like £20 in most places so have to shop around.
This looks to be the best deal at the moment.

Other usually recommended one is heat beads, and this here looks like best price

For recipes and tips, check out amazingribs.com, there's so much to read and learn

I have just ordered it, from wowbbq actually, with the starter kit and an extra 8kg bag of weber briquiettes.

Ill add it onto my list of several sites to check out, its coming friday which is a shame as this weekend is forecast for lower temps and rain/clouds so i may not even get to use it till our next warm sunny spell but atleast ill be prepared this time.

Bah just had a browse on T&G for prices and I see their brisket point end is now £32 for 3kg, was £27 when I ordered one in August last year. That's a pretty hefty hike. Does anyone else know any other good suppliers? My local butcher still just sounds confused about briskets so I don't really want to risk an expensive order and they don't get the right cut.

Rogers and Sons are worth checking out too, but just as expensive. So much for the BBQ cuts being the cheaper ones..

Looks tasty, not quite what I envisaged when you said you were going to cook a pie on the BBQ. Is there any pastry involved?

No pastry, just sourdough bread at the bottom. I'd probably call it a bake, but the recipe called it a pie so I'm going with it! It tasted great though, it was really easy to make and I'd definitely do it again. It's hard to go wrong with meat, cheese, onions, bread and tomatoes!

Sell you mine if you want along with the outdoor kitchen i built for it (only wood and granite worktop) Kamado Joe Jnr, only had it a year and its in perfect condition. (only in sunny Derby) :)

Only reason for sale is that I am saving up for the Big Joe as i want to be able to barbecue a pigs head :)

No idea on the COSTCO range, but Kamado cooking is excellent :)

Didn't Morrisons do a Kamado style BBQ last year for stupidly cheap (I think it was about £300)? Anyone know how good they were, in case it's worth keeping an eye out again this summer (I pass up to three of their stores between OcUK Towers and home, depending on the route I take)?

so few people saying they do an overnight cook, how do you do this? Do you just check before you go to sleep or just hope for the best?

I use my Maverick and just place it next to my bed, if the alarm goes off the missus will kick me to wake me up and I know something is going wrong! I've done a few and so far the temps have held solid. I get it going a while before so I know it's stable, then go to bed late and get up early so probably only 6-7 hours unattended.

This is a much better option.. Expensive but I'm trying to justify one for this summer. Although saying that, the prices look like they've come down loads. According to the EU site, it works out at about £250 now, the US site is much cheaper, but with import duty would probably work out very similar.

Edit: Damn, missed off the fan control cable which bumps the price up a fair bit.

I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I don't think the US price has changed though. My receipt from 31 March 2018 says $249 for the Extreme model and it's the same price on their site today.

Did you buy the fan control cable as well? $327 or 393Eur for the basic kit, controller and fan plus shipping
