*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

if you want 360 pad support get a console..This is a PC game play it like its ment to be played with a keyboard and mouse.

Oh I forgot, you're the one who's mantra is "PC gaming is the only gaming. Everything else is irrelevant. Resistance is futile."

Remote connection = wife + mobile

Hopefully it will be downloaded when i get home from work :D (took a bit of explaining to get her to start the download so i could still be disappointed )

Ok will do thanks for the wonderfull advice.

Not everyone prefers a keyboard and mouse, I have a 360 but prefer the higher Res and generally much better graphics of the Pc.

I think there should be the option available to cater for all... Not everyone thinks a keyboard and mouse is the best option...

It doesn't make it any less relevant. If you want to use a gamepad get it on console. Gamepad support is and should be optional for the dev, its not like offering mouse wheel support which some games do lack *cough* Mass Effect 2 *cough*, something that should be available on the PC.

I'm playing it on my PS3 at this very instant. But if a game is to have been certified as a Games for Windows title, it should have controller support, that's all I'm saying. So it looks like MS doesn't give a fig about that certification anymore.

Arrived an hour ago :D Great game and graphics.

If you expected MS to honour anything the jokes on you tbh ><

Although i wholely agree, it shouldn't have Games for Windows :p

he graphics aren't really dated, they're similar to Bioshock 1 but maybe a few better effects dotted around the world.

Here it's running on my machine, not really any spoilers as it's nothing the various trailers and videos online haven't shown you already.

I was going to get this straight away but I think i'll wait till I get my new gfx card first. Is it much more demanding on the system than Bioshock 1 ?

People going on about "get a console" etc seem to be forgetting that bioshock 1 had perfect 360 pad support on the pc. There's no reason they could do the same on the sequal.

I've just done stage 2 (wont say what its called for those out there) and I have to say, brilliant game so far, if you explore every nook and cranny and listen to all the tapes it takes a while. I am finding it much harder than bs1 though on normal. Finding splicer spam far harder than big daddies.

So far epic plot, waiting for mind**** though, it has to happen.

Btw as for resource usage:

Seems to use all 4 cores nicely and utilise GPU too but not sure why it's not using more VRAM - guess it's not huge on textures so doesn't need it?

Sidebar gadgets :)

Unrar this (it's my pack of gadgets you see in the screenshot) into your gadgets location (C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets)

I have found one bloody great big issue of a bug however in this game and it won't affect most of you but will seriously annoy the hell out of those of us who have hardware calibrated monitors whether you're playing in DX9 or DX10 in this game.

When you load the game your LUT is reset for the game so you lose calibration - this is fine as /a/ game will restore the LUT when you exit.

I remember having this issue in Bioshock 1 as well and looks like 2K games have not bothered to sort this.

What actually happens is your LUT is reset, you exit the game and the LUT is not restored. If I click my calibration software's LUT loader (which automatically runs at Windows boot to load the LUT) nothing happens, I have to log off then log back on and click my LUT loader and only then will my calibration be restored.

So what this means is I can only play this game when I can afford to log off and close all my apps/docs after playing unless I like my eyes being annoyed by innaccurate colours and white/black levels.

Complete arse.

I hate Virgin, downloading at 400Kbps.

My 20 meg is running at 4 currently. Really, Do not quote swear words annoying!

ive got virgin 20meg too and its downloading at 2.3 mb/s...
a while back i was getting silly download speeds, complained like a crazy man and they sent me a new modem and had the whole line tested/checked out by tech, worked a treat.
