*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

is that the patch that has messed up the multiplayer or a newer patch that fixed not being able to use the mouse button in multiplayer from the previous patch?

Edit: Nope not fixed also seems to have made mp far more laggy, just tried a couple of games and was rubberbanding everywhere.

I think I'm getting near the end now and Ive only been playing for around 9 hours (taking it very slowly) :(. I don't want it to end :(.

I think I'll play it again but make different decisions when it comes to killing or saving someone. Not sure if that will give a different ending, like it did with the first game though?

9 hours, really? Its that short?
Thats amazingly short, everyone else paying through it in as fast a time?
Might wait for a bundle pack or a cheap reduction like I did with the first one.

You've enjoyed the 9 hours I take it?

No widescreen fixes, I'm afraid, but it does rectify that incredibly annoying problem where the player’s magic hand becomes unresponsive when switching to the next power, immediately after firing any second or third tier Plasmid:

Today we released a patch for BioShock 2 on the PC for issues that we uncovered between the title’s production and launch. Unfortunately, this patch is causing errors in the Multiplayer portion of the game where holding down the mouse button does not register in game. We are already working on a fix to this problem and I will update you with more details as soon as I have them. The full patch list is available here for your reference (minus any potential spoilers.) Our work to fix other issues (including our widescreen fix) is still ongoing and they will be coming shortly.

# Fixed accepting a game invite on the Multiplayer Menu via Friend Invite causing a crash.
# Fixed a black screen that would occur minimizing and restoring the game in Windows 7.
# Fixed the ability to adopt or harvest Little Sisters after rebinding the ‘F’ or ‘B’ keys to Zoom, Fire or Fire Plasmid.
# Fixed Big Daddy HUD elements remaining on screen when not appropriate.
# Fixed an issue where the player’s plasmid hand would become unresponsive if they pressed the Next Plasmid key immediately after firing any chargeable plasmid (such as ElectroBolt 2).
# Fixed a potential save file issue.
# Fixed an issue where the resolution would change on its own if entering gameplay in a 16:10 resolution on a native 16:10 monitor.
# Fixed a problem where if you were running the game in a resolution higher than your desktop resolution the mouse cursor wouldn’t be able to go across the whole screen.
# Fixed an issue in Windows 7 where certain Radio messages could become scrambled or broken after defeating a Big Sister if Voice audio had been turned down or muted previously.
# Fixed a crash while playing Dionysus Park on a 32-bit machine.
# Fixed a crash that would occur sometimes loading a previous manual save made before any present QuickSave.
# Fixed a crash while signing in to GFWL when running compatibility mode for XP SP2 while running Vista.
# Fixed an issue where you couldn’t play audio diaries in certain areas.
# Fixed a rare crash that could occur any time before a specific Big Sister sequence.

If you experience issues when auto-patching in-game, download the manual update here.

Keep going and see :)

According to Steam stats I got nearly 18 hours out of if but then I was taking it slow to savour the experience.

Don't want to search through this thread because of spoilers but does this game link the code to your steam account like MW2 does or will I be able to trade it in after I get bored of it?

Just finished the game which was pretty fun although it nags me how most of the interactions you have with characters is usually through a screen and on another note did anyone else find the amount of splicer spawn on gathers really inconsistent? near the end i was only confronted by 4 or 5 splicers while harvesting.

Well I'm not 100% sure I'm near the end but i got an achievement for taking care of all little sisters and it seems like I'm near the end. There might be more to it yet though if people are getting 18 hours. As i have been taking it nice and slow taking loads of screen shots etc and finding all the audio tapes.

Throughly enjoyed it so far.

Well you get tonics that increase the rate of gathering and prevent her from being 'interrupted' by Splicers. So it might just seem that way.

I'm upto about 14 hours and just entered Fontain Futuristics, though i can't say i've been going particularly fast and its on Hard, though thats going by the time on Steam, so i may be an hour or 2 over.

Just completed it and it took 12 hours. Longer than the first but still very short.

I'll complete it again to see if theres a different ending if you harvest the little sisters, like with the first game.

EDIT: started playing again with the intension of going for the bad ending this time but i just cant harvest the little sisters, they're too cute :(:o.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER***

Can you get the bad ending any other way? Does killing the old woman give the bad ending?

That's not slowly, I've never volunteerily replayed the same areas so many times, I can see why they use the respawn now, but it works, it keeps each area alive, long after you've completed all the objectives and found everything - and there is so much to find.

According to Steam I've played 29.7 hours of Bioshock 2 and I'm still in Dionysus Park. I've just started experimenting with the Cyclone Trap level 2 - you can mix fire in the traps or ice or bees and all the other plasmids! This game is so much fun.

I never purchased the Cyclone Trap or bees, might have to give them a try on my second play through. Still trying to decide whether or not to harvest the sisters :D. Looking on wiki there appears to be 3 endings, not sure how to get them all.

I did try to go as slow as i could, checked everywhere for tapes as i love listening to them. Its amazing how much clearer the story is on the second play through though.

I'm keeping all the little sisters alive but it's getting to be a pain in the rear now. The quest I'm on at the moment requires me to save 3 little sisters and it's hard enough saving one with splicers crawling all over you while she is harvesting, then half dead, out of ammo and Eve, I saved the second one, and then a Big Sister appears. I saved the game and logged off. Deal with it later.

What difficulty are you playing on? I played it on normal at first and have just started another on hard this time.

I found that once i had upgraded my flame plasmid to full and upgraded the .50 cal gun i could easily handle the splicers in them situations. I just set them on fire and finished them off with the gun.

Also helps to put a couple of turrets down to help out. And try and get into a position where you have a bit of cover, they don't harm the little sister so when they're near her you can head shot them quite easily.
