*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

Just completed BS2, my god it's brilliant. Not as good as the first game mind, but still it kept me gripped throughout and I kept playing it till the end. Not many games have done that in the recent years for me.

Er, you only get Big Sister attacks when you've saved all the Sisters in that area, saving 2/3 wouldn't trigger it.

What is the story with this? I finished Dionysus Park and was all set to fight the Big Sister, traps laid, turrets down, security hacked, full on health and eve and I save the last little sister . . . and there was no Big Sister. Very disappointing as there was only one Big Sister on that level for me (after I saved the first little sister).

Loving the game now apart from the lack of Big Sisters, I think there was only one in the previous level too! Will definitely be replaying this one.

I saw somewhere that the number of BiG Sisters you get depends on how you play the game, is that to do with how many little sisters you save or harvest?

Didn't think of that, could depend on whether you Harvest or Save. Either way i'd saved all of them and i got a Big Sister attack in Dionysus Park. It didn't actually happen until way after i'd saved the last 1 after all the speeches, so if you left early that might be why.

On a side note, did anyone else feel really let down by the lack of "scary/crazy/funny" moments? In B1 we had the "What can I do with this one Aphrodite? she won't, stay, STILL!" followed by "an intruder....he's ugly...ugly....UGLY...UGGGLLLLYYYYYYY!", or the silent white spider splicers half way through fort frolic, the introduction of the Houdini splicers or any other of the many memorable scenes...Bioshock 2 just...didn't have any of this, was really annoying for me.

Or the mental doctor that tries to kill you screaming 'IT'S JUST A STANDARD MEDICAL PROCEDURE!'

I didn't notice much fo this in Biochock 2 for the first few hours but lately I have been hearing a few interesting comments form Splicers, I must pay more attention for them.

Oh ok, I might go back and do that again (really don't want this game to end). It would be worth it for the Big Sister.

Yeah there are a lot more things coming directly from the random Splicers than in Bioshock 1, but considerably less 'memorable characters'. The Doctor is a great example, "This 1, too short! This 1, too fat! This 1, too symmetrical!" and all the recordings about him.

Then of course the epic twist.

What difficulty are you playing on? I played it on normal at first and have just started another on hard this time.

I found that once i had upgraded my flame plasmid to full and upgraded the .50 cal gun i could easily handle the splicers in them situations. I just set them on fire and finished them off with the gun.

Also helps to put a couple of turrets down to help out. And try and get into a position where you have a bit of cover, they don't harm the little sister so when they're near her you can head shot them quite easily.

Playing on hardest level. I can handle the splicers well enough, it's just the big sister I'm finding to be a challenge at times. I'm hacking everything in sight and try to be near a hacked turret of some sort when she appears. As you said, Flame Plasmid can be a life saver as it distract her for a second or two which is vital kicking ass time.

Towards the end there is a door in paediatric ward with a tumbler lock thing. Where would you find the code for it? I collected all the tapes I found along the way yet it never came up.

Is that the one in the room with the paintings?

If so you should have gotten a recording that goes on about different numbers of "Legs, Mouths, Arms and Eyes", it's actually quite clever though a bit simple if you pay attention, just listen to the recording while looking at the 4 paintings on the wall.

If you missed the recording it's by the sofa next to the window in the same room as the door, also you can re-listen to recordings from map (M) menu.

It was the one that Fenris was on about, cheers. I will have to go back to that at some point. What's behind the door isn't even on the map so I thought it might have just been bugged. Will have a go at it next week when I get back to my room at uni.

Is anyone having GFX issues with the water textures? In my opinion the GFX arent great even on high. The water tho in places looks great, nut in other places it just looks like a plain flat surface, the first place i noticed it was when the little sister harvested that first body for adam ( theres a puddle near the body ). Im using an 8800 with the latest drivers off the nvidia site.

Ive just suddenly realised something...the Circus of Values no longer talks :(.

That's another improvement IMHO, that was one of the most annoying things about the first.

Nearing the end of this now, I really don't want it to end. It was never going to be as epic and original as the first but I find the gameplay even better than the original. The combinations of plasmids and weapons and tonics makes this some of the most fun gameplay and combat I have ever played.
