*** Official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Thread ***

I actually played cod 5 before MW and even that way round COD 4 was the better game. However some of the tiny shoebox maps in cod 4 got on my **** as they were a touch too mindless for my likely. Probably didnt help being 18 months late to the party....still scrapped a 2.8 K: D in he few months I played though which is good for me :)

CoD:WaW was as good as CoD4 online although if you don't like the setting and types of guns used i can see why CoD4 has a greater appeal, story mode CoD4 wins hands down, WaW felt to much like a grenadefest, unrealistic and a bit tedious, CoD4 was bang on the money with it's story.

Have I just made this up or did I hear that re spawning enemies would be gone from the campaign this time around?

I said I wasnt going to get this game as I'm going to be focusing on Flashpoint but I'm slowly coming round to some run and gun action.

Multiplayer - COD4 was a million times better.

I found that CoD5 had the better map design, but I prefer playing CoD4 as the weapons seem to have more feel to them and there seems to be a better sense of balance to it.

I hate where it makes you respawn at times on CoD5 it seems to stick you near the enemy team a lot at times. :/

In COD 5 you have zombie mode , does COD 6 have anythink similar ?

Yep.

What is Special Ops Mode?

Special Ops mode….. Only the dedicated Modern Warfare 2 fan really understands what it is. Well, its co-op but not campaign. Its arcade mode but with a friend. Its not one game type but many different and varied types. Its….. hard to explain exactly what it is, so read on to get a clearer picture.

When you fire up Modern Warfare 2, you will land on a screen where you can launch Campaign, Multiplayer or Special Ops – the new co-op mode. You can also see your completion levels for each one.

You can play Special Ops solo if you want, but you won’t get far that way. The ticket to survival is a friend, you can play split-screen or on Xbox Live/Playstation Network with two players max. Just remember, there is no drop-in/drop-out, so you will want a reliable partner who will stick with you if you want to get killer times/scores.

Special Ops is broken down into 5 groups that escalate in difficulty – Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo – and you can earn up to 3 stars for completing each of the 23 missions. You get one star for completing it on Regular, two for Hardened and three for Veteran. Since it takes 14 stars to open up the next group, there’ll be no strolls in the park.

There will be a lot of intriguing gameplay you won’t see anywhere else in Modern Warfare 2. Many of the ideas for Special Ops came from quality single player concepts that didn’t quite fit into the Campaigns flow. Special Ops was where Infinity Ward didn’t want to compromise on story, “but still wanted cool co-op moments”.

Some of the 23 missions or scenarios included are

* Assault – Sends you through a level to take down targets while avoiding civilians
* Stealth – Has you sneak past enemies
* Wave Defense – Spawn’s five increasingly harder waves – just like GoW2’s Horde Mode
* Elimination – Drops you into a level with a set number of spawning enemies
* Snowmobile Time Trials – Get to the finish line as quick as possible
* Snowmobile Combat – Race against, and shoot your friend
* AC-130 – One man in the gunship handles fire support, while one man on the ground has a laser sight on his rifle calling down death from above.

An example of these missions is a Delta level Elimination. Harrowing is a good way to describe the job of taking down 40 adversaries converging on a cabin in the woods. You can play it smart, planting claymores in doorways and popping up in windows to tempt ghillie-suited snipers to reveal their position by taking a potshot. Some enemies won’t come to you, so eventually it seems wise to move to the forest… Until a juggernaut charges!

Juggernauts are a enemy you won’t find anywhere else in the game. There are huge guys in bomb-squad suits, and the only way to take them down is with a .50 cal or Desert Eagle. Explosions only take them to one knee.

So, only one month, two weeks and two days until you can experience all that Modern Warfare 2 has to offer, up close and personal. It looks like you won’t be disappointed with Special Ops mode.
