****Official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 thread****

Wow, after looking at some videos and reading player reviews - I can't say i'm surprised. The thing that scares me is how many official reviewers gave it over 90+, there is no way those are genuine reviews.

Cringe. Modern Warfare 1 graphics actually look better!

The level of greed shown by activision with this series is disgusting by all standards but to go and not only reuse a tired old engine but even more lazily reuse art from previous games is taking it to a new low, they get billions in profit but don't want to spend anything to make a better game, im glad i only bought cod4 and mw2, they don't deserve to be in business, they're a great example of whats wrong with capitalism.

Right, if you like MW2 and Black Ops you will like this, ignore the BF3 trolls in this thread. The graphics are smooth and better than previous CODS. Yes, it's made for console, but so are most things nowdays - here's a line, get over it.

Pretty much this.

Are people really acting like the graphics are the only thing important to a game? Reading through this thread, everyone is comparing or complaining about the graphics? It's like being 10years old again and comparing the nintendo to the sega?
The only thing that matters is game play! It will look somewhat decent, nothing ground breaking obviously, its COD :D
But, if they can get it to run smooth with as little bugs as possible, people should take it for a fast paced fps. SP these days are ok, but only last a matter of hours in total, MP is where the investment comes.
I'd rather have a trial of this one first before buying, but obviously that wont happen :(
Will stick to BF3 for a few more days.

My Hardened edition from GAME still hasn't come through yet... Good thing I got it on Steam as well... Bit annoyed but they still have a few hours yet!

With game can you still track your orders? Must admit since the new e-mail format/website change I can never find this information.

There wouldn't be anything wrong if this was released as a dlc or full game at a quarter of the price but for activision to expect £40 on both 360 and pc without offering anything new is disgusting, what's wrong with people?

Does no one have a sense of value and understand greed when it's smacking them right in the face? It makes me sick seeing just how much people will accept, im talking generally here but the world would be very different if people didn't put up with so much rubbish, no wonder the economy is in the state it is, it deserves to fail tbh.

I think the more respectable reviewers have been pretty accurate to be honest, EG gave it an 8/10 and GB a 4/5.Though with most reviews from GB reading the words helps analyse the score better, i think this sums up MW3 nicely:

The new tricks feel more like a distraction designed to make you forget how revolutionary Call of Duty 4 was. I will certainly buy and play a copy of Modern Warfare 3, but there's nothing here that makes me want to shut off the rest of the world and obsess over it anymore. It makes you wonder if the franchise's best days are truly behind it

you couldn't be more wrong there tbh

I'll agree with that, but I just think that this is now the accepted price for 'big' PC games :( Not much you can do about it really.

^Except don't buy it until the price drops. I'm not buying this because I want CoD to be exceptional and engaging again and that most certainly won't happen while people still buy these rehashed games in their droves. IF everyone took a stand and didn't buy this game (which would hardly be the end of the world) we might just get a fantastic MW4.

I'm not going to be Activision's female dog.

Sadly that seems to be the way things are heading but it's wrong for the simple reason that the extra £10 on consoles was towards microsoft/sony, on pc theres no excuse to price games above £30 unless theres something extra.

Tbh games shouldn't cost much more than £20, why is it different over a film, i imagine the costs are the same and the numbers sold are high, im just tired of seeing so much greed.

It's kept artificially high for years after release, i don't even really want it, i just hate what activision is doing and how it effects the market, similarly what things like restrictive drm and dlc have done, it will end up no where good.

Just had a few games with Murray, have to say i'm loving it!

I was dissapointed at first but as you rank up the weapons get much more fun.

Not really had any problems with the matchmaking so far yet either, a few timed out but that's it.

Money well spent IMO.

got my digital copy for £26.65 this morning :)

as per EVERY COD game it wont ever get that sensibly cheap, so just thought stuff it as i saved a fair bit over going to a shop or getting steam direect

Meh.

I have no temptation to buy this at all, although I bought every other COD so far.

This brings nothing to the table that I haven't seen before, they need to spend some of their vast fortune and bring this franchise up to date!

Sorry, I don't mean to be one of those guys that wades in to a discussion, only having experienced one side (I've only bought COD when I felt like it was worth it, so COD/UO, 4 and W@W) but this seems like the most ridiculous argument for buying a game...

"There's nothing we can do so lets just buy it..." or you could not buy it? Spend your money on something else worthwhile? I'm not saying you should go out and get BF3, you're obviously buying COD against BF3 (for whatever reason), but surely its not that great if you're having to defend it by saying what you said, and you'd be better spending your money elsewhere?

Perpetuating Activision's decisions into making more of the same game over and over like its Fifa or something just seems to make no sense at all, especially if your defense of its failings is to say "Its a console game..." Activision will just keep phoning it in, and you'll just keep paying money for it and its just a vicious cycle into the depths of terrible game production.

I won't be buying it, not because I'm a BF3 Fanboi, but because I don't see the point. There's nothing new or exciting about it, and they've long since forgotten us who got them where they are.

TL;DR I don't want to buy it because its not worth my money. I don't like the original quote because it makes no sense to me, and fuels bad games.

+1 absolutely. I'd like to think the proper IW guys who Activision sacked are working on a COD killer.
