****Official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 thread****

I disagree about quickscoping being skillful; you just need to put a tiny blob of something that won't harm your screen where your crosshairs would normally meet and it's literally the easiest thing in the world.

Back to the game: so is this new IWNET 'better' that MW2's? Have you players had lots of the usual migration/host/connections problems etc?

Seems to be identical. The lobby can still be painfully slow, sitting at 'waiting...' for ages. Loading a map, I am often waiting 1-2 minutes before getting into a match, or being dropped back to the lobby (you still can't quit during this time). It works 'adequately' but the issues from MW2 still persist.

At least quickscoping takes some skill rather than just the blast and pray rpg style of BF3. Plus the map designs or control points rather in BF is truly awful. Open maps they say? 60% of the maps are just wasted space and its only that big to accomodate the totally weak jets.

LOL! Possibly the silliest comment I've ever read. It's easier to get kills quickscoping than by using RPGs in BF3. There is not much skill in quickscoping, those that do it have a huge advantage because they get an instant 1 shot kill making other guns pointless. Can't you see this? With RPGs after firing one you have a fairly long reload time. Not to mention how utterly stupid it is to have the ability to quickscope with sniper rifles in the first place! People only defend it because it helps them get high kills and makes the game easy mode!

As for the maps, even COD fanboys I've spoken to reckon the new ones are useless, tiny and boring. MW2's maps were vastly superior to MW3.

MW3 is the worst COD game I've played to date. If you ask me, they've gone backwards since COD4. In terms of rating, I'd give it a 7, Black Ops and MW2 8.5 and COD4 a 9. It's still very playable but the franchise is becoming boring, predictable and in need of some innovation. Comparing the COD engine next to Frostbite 2 is like comparing a Skoda next to a Ferrari!

SP - 8/10
MP - 6 or 7/10

If you like MW2 you will like this. Is it worth £40? no. is it worth £30? yes.

Single player is gripping, I like the guns, the story....I like it all.

MP the animation of the shotgun annoys me and the fact its been nerfed.
Dont like it? Dont use it, I wont be.

The game will sell well, It will have a big following. I now have to split my time between BF3, MW2/3, Pro evo and CSS....and have a social life.... challenge accepted.

I've had numerous attempts to practice it and just can't do it. Therefore it takes some skill to master. Unless you put a blob on your screen like the chap above said but I've not resorted to that yet.

Regards to the MW3 maps, well I've only played 2 so far. A Favela type one which I liked and another one I can't remember the name of. I'll get back to you on that one.

Graphics I couldn't give a toss about. Yes there needs to be a line where the graphics are unacceptable but I don't think we are there yet. The next COD game with the same engine/graphics then I do think they will have crossed the line and are taking the ****. Especially with BF3 bringing FB2 to the table which I do admit looks fantastic.

As I've said before though, gameplay over graphics every single time.

Quite, I cant get the nack of it, but gimme an assault rifle and its on.

I had to laugh at that.

First MP game I tried and emptied a clip and seeing as though everyone says swapping to your alternate weapon is quicker than reloading...

Well I made the mistake of doing that and tried to pull out a shotgun which took an age and I was blown away :(

You saying you used a shotgun as your secondary weapon in MW3?

Even with a bit of Rizla or bluetack or whatever as a crosshair(Which is only good when learning the technique, when you are good it is not needed.), QSing does require skill to do well. At least the muscle memory to aim and take the shot quickly. Saying it takes no skill is just stupid. The only people who **** it obviously can't do it well.

That last bit doesn't follow at all, does it. There are lots of things I could do well in life if I chose to, but it doesn't mean that I like it when others do them.

I just don't get all the hate

The entire entertainment industry is built on selling to the mainstream. Music, films, books, TV and games all make the most money by entertaining the masses.

COD is to games what the Da Vinci Code is to books, Xfactor is to TV, Britney Spears is to music and Rocky is to films.

Also consider that yesterday, the worldwide release of COD 8, the peak total players on PC was around
100,000. Split roughly 60-40 between MP and SP. That's a such a small percentage of the total sales, I'm surprised they even bother to release the game on PC for all the hate it gets.

One thing is for sure, I installed the game and was playing it straight away, maxed out and without any issues on release day. I can't say the same for Battlefield 3.

Not a fanboi of either franchise, but I do like both for what they are and have played most of the previous games too.

Also as for people complaining about the buildings being reused, ive only spotted 1 so far in the SP and you are in it for all of 30 seconds. shock horror how dare they etc....

This game has crashed loads of times for me while loading a map, the loading bar gets near the end then you get the Windows error sound and it just freezes, necessitating using task manager to kill it. Happened several times on the same map, Interchange, although may be a coincidence.

Still don't understand TBH

There aren't any shotguns in the 5 default classes AFAIK. Oh well.

Just had a look and you're right.

The first time you take the weapon out, you pull it out of your pants and get it ready which in a fight gets you killed. The second time you use it then it just swaps quickly. I don't understand why they've done that.

It's the PP90M1 that's your secondary weapon and when you take it out, it looks like a shotgun :p
