Official Crysis Demo thread

Woohoo! I have Crysis in my paws. What a nice surprise to find it lying on the doorstep when I got home from work. Thanks Gameplay! Nice packaging by the way!

Are you sure Play.com stuff comes from Jersey? As I said before, I got the email Thursday (about 4PM) telling me Crysis had been shipped. It also said 3-5 days. 2 days later it turns up on my doorstep!! Woot Woot!! :D

Playing it now. It's good. It's very good. Hard though. I'm thinking how nice it would be to play with everything on VERY HIGH :) I'm running everything on MEDIUM at the moment. It's smooth enough & still looks amazing. I've only just put this system together & it was on a strict budget so unless I win the Lotto tonight I won't be upgrading anytime soon :(


Anyone know how you take those tanks out? I've hit one of them with 3 rockets & it's still coming at me!

You gotta get the aim right, took me 3 rockets to destroy one.
 
Actually, that's not good, I'm going to be sat here tomorrow playing this instead of working where I should be out in the garage. :o

I got those tanks sorted now. Found a bug as well ** SPOLIERS AHEAD** RECOVERY. I cleared the village & got the hostage. I'd already found the station on top of the hill but this didn't clear as a task. I went back to the top of the hill & sure enough I'd already acessed the tactical computer. Had to restart from earlier, access the tactical computer & then redo the whole bloody village again ....... which was awesome actually ;)

Gets hard after that (CROSSINGS I think it's called). I walked into a shed load of KP & I got mowed down big time! Brilliant!

Great game. My fingers are killing me because I've been playing so long! I need a break but I want to carry on. This is so good. My wife's at a course tomorrow again (she's been there all day today). Guess what I'll be doing all day tomorrow? :D

I'm playing on MEDIUM & it's still bloody hard! But so much fun though. I'm playing through parts of the game over & over again until I work out the best strategy. I find it most rewarding when you tag all the enemies, sneak into an area & then take them all out quickly. But this is hardto pull off & you often end up getting mowed down in machine gun fire. And there's always a sneaky Korean that you did'nt previously spot!

I might start the game again on HARD because I'm finding on MEDIUM that I can often just grab a vehicle, blunder my way into a base, take cover & then just pick everyone off! Does the job but it's boring this way.
 
I started playing on delta - seemed easy enough in the demo but it got a bit too difficult in the full game.

Well, not difficult as such, just pretty boring, because my strategy after a while just became run-past-everything-as-quick-as-possible. Switched to hard when I got to a spot that was too difficult, kept dying, switched to medium and in the next few levels I only died twice. One of them I ran too fast in to a barrel and died, the other I ran too fast in to a tree and died :(.
Will probably play through again on a harder difficulty when I finish...

Haha, this is some funny stuff. These bugs have actually employed a new level of realism in Crysis. I mean, how often in games do you get hurt from running into stuff? I can just imagine in the middle of a battle with the Koreans, stubbing your toe on a curb and having to sit out for couple of minutes while you recover.
 
Spotted a couple of AI bugs on the harbour level. de-cloaked I popped from behind a rock with 2 Koreans right in front of me. But they didn't even move! Needless to say they were both dispatched, rather quickly, with a headshot each from my twin pistols :)

I'm so loving this game. I played from about 10AM to 6PM yesterday only stopping breifly for lunch & to use the bog! I don't think I've ever played a game continuously for that long before. Not maybe since I was about 12 years old (I'm 34 now) on my Commodore 64. It's bloody awesome this! I'm praying for a small lottery win so I can buy the mammoth system required to run it on very high ;)
