Official Crysis Demo thread

Has any one completed the demo yet? I think i completed i got to the ship, and then the movie came on, and suddenly a octopus looking creature took gobbled up one of the men, is that the end of the demo?

No idea, but that sounds brilliant. Exactly what I like to see in games. Was it like on Half Life where the guy gets sucked in the water

Right, so these edited configuration files that a lot of people seem to be using to get all the good bits of the Very High setting but without the massive performance hit: are these only applicable to XP users, or is it worth using them with Vista, too?

I'm using them in Vista x64, just make sure you run the game in DX9 mode.

Decisions, decisions. Do i stick with Vista, or do i risk installing XP to see if the performance is any different ! Hmmm.

Don't do what I do and spend 2 days per week reinstalling one, then the other. Damn this vista looks much nicer but it's been the burden of so many wasted nights over the last 2 weeks. I wish the thing never even existed then I'd have no reason not to run XP. As it is I put XP on and it looks so drab compared to Vista. Re-install Vista all is well. Everything feels so much better then I read these forums and and discover yet another up and coming game that works far better with XP.

I suppose a 'duel' boot would be the best solution.

@ tron, thats what I have been posted all over threads (in not so many words as I could not find the Interview again).

The game is not made now it run on cards in years, them settings are deep in the code and will be brought out with patches when needed, the game is suppose to run well now as of the onfo you posted above which is spot on as thats the interview we all read.

He actually said a 8600GTS at Mid RES and High settings in a previous interview AFAIR, what can a 8800GTX/Ultra do with it ?.

Where is the best place to order the game, or should I say the company that posts it out early or at least on time ?

Cheers

I think most places are classed as competitors. One that doesn't have free delivery is probably best.

Doh :p

Already ordered with one that has free delivery. I can see me doing the same as I did when I pre ordered supcom from them, it didn't come day of release, so I went and bought the game in town. :D

i too cancelled my pre order i will buy it maybe just to say to crytek well done but tbh i wont play it until they fix transparancy AA(i tried 4x supersampling and it still looked bad twinkle twinkle :/) on the leaves and i can almost max it out if i have to wait a year i will :P

and cevat said a single 8800 GTX would run ultra in dx 10 LOL

atm its playable on medium 16xaf no AA, high 16x af no AA = 26fps?

i cant see that being true until vista SP1 a few patches and some serious nvidia driver optimizing.

That was never stated, they always said that the performance would be decent but top end performance would require newer hardware than whats currently available.

it was stated at the launch party that crysis would run on high at high rez on a 8800 gtx they didn't say dx10 so they are right it does run on high and at 1680x1050 i dunno what more you want

the 8800gtx has been out a year and has been on top for that time a game like crysis which has settings for future cards etc was never gonna be run on maxed out i.e very high on a year old card tbh and if you thought that well you a bit silly arnt you lol

This is what he said:
- Cevat believes that GeForce 8800 GTS or Radeon 2900 will be good for running Crysis at 1280 resolutions on maximum settings but for 1600x1200 or higher you'll need faster hardware."

So that means I should be able to run the game on Very High with a 8800GTS at 1280*1024, now while that is possible I would not call it playable at 13fps

you can run it on maximum settings(minus the AA) with a single 8800......just not on Vista lol.

btw since when did anybody believe the recommended spec? its not like recommended specs have ever been realistic in games.

Plays on high in my sig:D. Tried the CVAR and was a slide show

Q6600 @ 3.4, 4gb and an HD2900XT under Vista 64 selecting DX10 from shortcut.

Everything on High @ 1680x1050, plays beautifully, same with everything but shadows on Very High, same for the 64 bit .exe, no antialiasing as it doesn't need it.
