***Official DC Universe Online Thread***

Well...it was a hard long slug, but we did it:

DC Raiders raided Batcave :D

Goodnight

CK how did you guys finish the last boss?

Lol, can't give away too much of our strategy. But I will say this:

Take 2 healers, 2 controllers, 1 dps and 3 tanks.

Up until the last boss the other two tanks should be doing dps. Then come the last boss, they switch to tank role.

We must have tried the last boss about 30 times before eventually defeating it. Put it this way, I was the last one in the room and I let Batman finish off Brother Eye cos my HP was like 5% remaining and if I had been in Brother Eye's sight and he did his spinning move, I would have wiped out.

Just try many different strategies as you can. We did everything possible to make sure that our healers and controllers didn't get too much aggro, hence the 3 tanks.

Next time we do it, I will see if I can record the video and then upload to YouTube.

Selfish much?

We ran this yesterday 2 raids, The one I was in got to last boss with out to many problems (one was a restart of the instance at the second boss (cat women part) bugged out, but we could not get the last boss down I'm not sure how hard it is its more about getting the correct strategy.

The other raid, funny enough the one that is better kitted could not get passed the first boss ...

We running bat-cave tonight again (2 raids teams) and will try the inner one Sunday again I guess, tho I'm pretty sure there will be a few impromptu Immortals raids before that.

Interesting thing is when we first ran Inner Sanctum with our main characters we tried about 30 times to defeat the last boss (Brother Eye) before eventually taking him down.

On Wednesday night, we did our alt characters and we got to the last boss twice as fast as we did the first time round. But we couldn't do the last boss cos I couldnt stay on long with it being like 1am by the time we reached the last boss.

We did Outer Caverns and Khandaq last night. I was hoping we would beat them both under an hour each and we were almost on target, but we kept wiping out a lot.

I am confident that we will conquer Inner Sanctum tonight or tomorrow, whenever we can get a steady and strong enough group to do it. But beating the 1hr time for the feat is going to take some doing lol.

What he said :)

How many of you guys on here still play this game ..I think it great, but server levels don't seem to agree with me :(

I am still playing it and will continue to play for a long time to come.

Late last night, a couple of guys from Massively Overpowered did a Livestream of the Catwoman instance. And had a live chat going at the same time. Was fun to watch.

Then 2hrs later, Chris Cao (game director) and that Jens dude (can never remember his surname lol) both did a live video chat where they discussed February's content (good and bad) and what's to come in March.

Already a couple of tasters were mentioned, listed below:

Two-Face and Penguin instances
Mxyzptlk event in relation to St Patrick's Day
Two-Face will be available for Legends PVP
There's going to be a Celtic armour set to collect during the Mxyzptlk event
Green Lantern duo and hard alert
Changes to be made to the current Green Lantern and Sinestro missions
Expect robot Penguins much like Joker's robots and such

And that's just to name a few. There was also talk of the 3rd and final Batcave 8 man raid, the Brainiac Sub Construct. This is where things get interesting and you finally take on Brainiac himself. I remember when we did this back in beta. All I can say is: OUCH! Lol :p

Regarding February's content, they did address the whole Cupid look and did agree it was a bad idea lol.

They've also removed exploits where people were cancelling out certain moves that would increase their damage to almost 4 times the usual amount. They were pleased people were enjoying the Catwoman mission.

Looks like they are well aware that people have been complaining about certain aspects of the game and they are addressing these as time goes on. I think people just need to be patient. It'll get better and better as time goes on. :)

Of course the real kicker was when the video chat was promptly disconnected and all we got was the SOE logo left in their place. They didn't come back after that lol.

One of the main reasons of the big drop off is Rift. But give that about 2mths and people who left DCUO for that will come back. Same with Dragon Age II. Me, on the other hand, I am staying loyal to DCUO. You couldn't pay me any money to move from it to play another MMO. No sir. :D

I think it will be a lot longer than 2mths, Rift is getting very good reviews across the board.

First major patch this morning which included a lot of fixes as well as things they couldn’t add in time for launch. Already talk of next patch with a lot more content to come.

I like DCUO, but Rift is fab!

Isn't that like most MMOs that come out? They add a patch on release (which DCUO did), then talk of what's to come. Again DCUO did this on Wed night announcing what's coming out in March.

Rift might be getting reviews across the board but games like that don't appeal to me. DCUO appeals to me simply cos it's a DC game. Nothing else.

So still no news on when the new update will be released but I wouldn't be surprised if it's next Tuesday. In keeping with the tradition of missing specific dates on releasing patches, SOE and DC are keeping us "interested" with what's to come in the new update.

As I mentioned earlier, we'll be getting Penguin and Two-Face instances. Two-Face in PVP Legends and Mister Mxyzptlk as part of a St. Patrick's Day event.

I have noticed also, that many people are only coming online now to do raids with their league. This is mostly apparent with my league now. We've done that many hard alerts and duos, that we now just raid between Thurs and Sat nights. I am on every night though cos I can't not be on it lol.

Anyway, we're just hoping the 3rd and final raid Batcave raid is on the next update cos damn, we are itching to complete that :D

Incidentally you do all 4 raids (Khandaq, Outer Caverns, Inner Sanctum and Brainiac Sub-Construct), that's roughly 50 marks of Distinction right there.

We have heard also that they are thinking of adding new gear for the new raid. Not necessarily Tier 3 gear, but more a case of new gear to collect for styles and such.

Anyway, hope everyone that is still playing this is enjoying it and hope to see some of you back again real soon.

I might be getting Crysis 2 this weekend so I think I will be playing that for a bit. I haven't even played any other game since DCUO came out lol.

Ok guys...seriously, if you haven't already gotten the new patch, what are you waiting for? Word is going round that this is the best patch so far. The new Penguin/Two-Face instance is brilliant. The new Green Lantern duo is the best duo so far. They've made huge changes to the Chat UI system and it looks tons better.

My league did the final Batman raid where we took on the behemoth himself, Brainiac. Took 170mins to do but we did it. Epic stuff.

Certain exploits have been removed including the ability to put items into the shared bank, which many of us took advantage of for our alt characters lol.

Oh and even tho it was last month, there's a new St Paddy's Day event added. Expect fun stuff from Mr Mxyzptlk. And collect a new range of Celtic gear from the 5th dimensional imp.

I'm taking my time over this patch so as to not to rush like most people do and then before you know it they're bored again. It's like I keep saying, it's an MMO for a reason :)

Size for the new patch is under 700MB.

Ahh...it's been a while since I was last here lol.

A lot has clearly happened in game since then.

The latest update came out last week. This features two new hard alerts and a new duo.

The two hard alerts are Oolong Island and Ra's Al Ghul. And between the two of them, Ra's is the best one.

What is most notable now about the hard alerts is they have put them in two categories. You have Tier 1 and Tier 2 hard alerts. Tier 1 hard alerts require your tank and/or controller to have between 200 and 350 dominance. Tier 2 hard alert requires them to have 500 dominance. This is the minimum. There is a reason they are now doing this and I can safely say it has something to do with the next update (Update 4) which will see some Superman content being brought in. I've seen a trailer and we finally get to visit the Fortress Of Solitude. Excited doesnt even cover it :D

I did mention there was a new duo, right? Well this is taken from the Two-Face/Penguin mission they brought in from Update 2. And they've made it a little more tricky than before.

There's a "Spring" event that involves Swamp Thing and Poison Ivy.

All in all, the game is still going good. There's talk of a server merger (not between platforms tho) and this is due to happen sometime before Update 4 is released.

I know many people have left the game of late, especially given the massive hacking issues Sony have had of late. But I am still enjoying the game as much as possible. Now just bring on Update 4 please :D

Incidentally, if anyone is interested, DCUO and SOE have opened up a public testing server to test out the new Fortress of Solitude raid from the upcoming Update 4:

http://forums.station.sony.com/dcuopc/posts/list.m?topic_id=29961

Download and install the client, then simply copy the UNREAL3 folder from your current DCUO files. This will save the need to download another 13-16GB worth of data. After that, few more patches to be downloaded, but check it out :)

So Folks,

Picked this up yesterday - but only managed 20mins of play time; i went for the EU servers but population said Low on them all; would i be better off on US servers? If not which EU server is best - and do i want PvE or PvP??

Also (and i know it will be a way off...) - how do i get a Superman embroided cape? Any good online resources for quest/item info?

Cheers!

Regarding servers, wait a few weeks. Cos they are currently testing out a mega server. This means all servers will pretty much merge as one to combat the low population across all servers at present.

So it wont matter if you are on EU or US as both are showing low population. Also the thing with PvE and PvP is that when the servers merge, you can actually switch between PvE and PvP within the server itself instead of logging out and back in.

If you follow the link I posted above, download and install the public test server client and you will see what I mean :)

And I am guessing your request for a Superman embroided cape is for yourself and not for your character? If so, I honestly wouldn't know where to begin. Perhaps making your own might be a good idea :)

Cheers Dude,

So at the moment Server choice isnt an issue as they will eventually merge, that the bottom line? I originally chose a PvE server as wanted to learn the game before having randoms tear me a new one.

Superman for my character, sure i saw a screenshot of someone having the Superman Cape on their character? Assumed maybe a story arc or similar would have unlocked it?

Yeah, server choice won't be an issue. They will be merged regardless. But like I said, you can switch in the server between PvE and PvP as and when you please.

For the Superman cape, it's part of the Tier 2 armour to collect. That'll only come into play when you reach level 30 and you get stuck into 8-man raids or 4-man T2 hard alerts. These give you marks of distinctions. You need a certain amount to collect each part of the armour. So for the Superman cape, you need to get 40 marks of distinction. A typical 8-man raid will give you anything upto 13 marks of distinctions and the new 4-man hard alerts give upto 4 marks. And with more and more raids now on the server (4 in total so far) you can pretty much notch up a lot of marks in almost no time at all.

If you have a look on YouTube for videos, they will show you how to obtain said marks and other items after you hit level 30. :)

No free trials as yet, but plenty of gameplay vids on YouTube if you fancy a gander. I've posted a few myself. Just search "DC Universe Online CK61938" ;)

Servers have also been merged and now there's plenty of people online. I have been going on as early as 6pm and there's a ton of people online all eager to get some raids and hard alerts going. So you can guarantee you won't be too bored :D

We're also expecting the first DLC available very soon. I think the test server should be trialling it out soon. But still no word on that yet. The DLC is roughly $10 (I am guessing £10 over here or less). Can't argue with that I say :)
