*** Official DCS World Thread ***

Took it out for a quick spin last night. Very light controls. Buckled the undercarriage on landing but got it down. Now I just need to learn to fly it.
Btw, I was invited to join a UK based Harrier squadron.
Let me know if you’re interested in also joining.
It’s a new squad, mostly ex-arma players. Flew with a pair of them last night

I haven't got the harrier mate and saving my cash for the hornet atm. Cheers for the offer though.

TBH havent had a chance to play for a few weeks now, will try and find some time today

Just fired it up again, managed to fix my problem of not having any modules or terrain in 2.5 so thats good, however 2.5 update has reduced me to about 15fps in VR :(

Can't afford an upgrade so any well known tweaks to get it up a bit?

A few ideas that have been suggested:
- Go into your Users/Saved Games/DCS folder and delete both the FXO and Metashader folders. They'll be recreated the next time you fly. They contain data on visuals for the game and will over time build up, resulting in stutters. On the first new start, your game will run like a dog whilst doing the first rebuild. Post that, should be a good deal faster
- Shadows = flat
- MSAA to x2 and if you're still suffering poor frame rates, off completely
- Clutter/grass - minimise
- Download and use ProcessLasso (it's freeware). For both the DCS.exe and OculusRift, set to high priority on the CPU
- Within Windows, sanity check your Pagefile. If it's the default of 4GB or similar, reset to something like 40GB
- Within your missions, keep them simple
- Pixel Density to 1

That lot might help a little.

These are my settings and it runs at around 45fps ASW. I found 3 things kill fps in VR and can be dasiabled wityhout much drop in visuals: Civilian traffic, Visibility range and terrain object shadows (need to be "flat")

Apparently, they're working on an offline mode, which I assume/hope/expect will resolve that.

On a more positive note, the Persian Gulf map is now up for pre-order and will be released "by the end of May".

Indeed they have said there were "working" on an offline mode ...... but 4 months without a peep
and only yesterday did any info come from ED about this .... AFTER a post pointing out how
they changed the authorisation system so now ALL modules are effected by this (was only Harrier at first)

Quite. Whilst I still rate it as the best air sim available, they do work at glacial levels to resolve some things. Other classic examples:
- EGH on the Huey, which was fine until they "fixed" it.
- VR view within Combined Arms, which is reversed in the horizontal plane
Talking of CA, played it with my son this week. It's quite a lot of fun.

I understand it takes time to do stuff, my issue is that they implemented a system without
informing the users and had to offline mode available

They just treat the customer with utter contempt, what might they try next ?

I have to say CA online can be super fun

I joined a server a while ago, the red tema were getting hammered so I joined them as commander
Hid a few vechs behind buildings .... then waited
Few mins later some ka-50 came hunting for me, was excellent fun to rake the button of their hlies with 12.7mm fire
