*** Official DCS World Thread ***

haha, well I have no interest in FC3, the huey, the BS or the p51 thank god (yet...). Combined arms sounds interesting and these hybrid FC planes with AFM I reckon will be worth looking into but will have to wait until later sales...

on the hardware front ive just finished cleaning my logitech extreme 3d's potentiometers which has cured the random right rolling that been happening lately but ultimately I could do with a replacement. Wouldn't mind a set of pedals either! Not really got the space (or money) for a pit though :p

To be fair with the amount of money ive spent on fsx addons in the past, its about time i gave the hardware front the same treatment...

If you have any saitek panels from your FSX days they can now be used within the A10.

Installed and set up. Stuck on the first tutorial, one of the triggers isn't working or plain old user error. I had the same with the A10 tuts and turned out they were bugged.

Starting to think I am just not clever enough and should stick to angry birds

Was tempted to get the BS2 upgrade during the sale, but heard about having to have BS1 installed before you can add the module into DCS. Surely the simplest way to upgrade it just give you a valid key for BS2 in dcsworld?

I wouldn't want to have to install BS1 again every time I had to install DCS World. If anyone has upgraded from BS1 to BS2 with the upgrade and knows about it more, could you please let me know if it's easier to just buy the BS2 module and forget about the upgrade?

The gripe is, we bought FC3 to get the planes it offered. And now they're updating the same plans to a higher level of fidelity we would have paid for in the first place and not bothered with FC3.

If they release the full sim planes in the bloody first place and then dumbed them down for a lower cost for people that want to fly them thats fine.

What I dislike is being given FC3 as an option. and then later they patch it and i've got to pay for the patch.

Especially at the cost they charge which is extremely high for the original game, and then the upgraded individual modules. that's just FC3! Huey, BS2, A10 haven't even had a look in yet.

had i known this was going to be the case, I would buy the upgraded F15, and forget lockon first time round. That wasnt an option back then though.

Nobody is being asked to pay for a patch, where did this come from?. The Idea of the individual modules was to cater to those without Lock On and finally loose the shackles of UBI. They are not DCS level modules. Given that they are now individual modules, extra work is going into them as product.

You make it sound like they are almost removing something from FC3 if they didn't port this extra work back to FC3 for free. The Feature list was known when you paid for it. If you didn't think it good value at the time, why pay for it?

Question for the Havoc guys, or anyone else who fly in squads etc!

Do you guys use TARS on your TS3 server?

See it is now compatible with the HUEY.

HI Marker,
No we tried tar(d)s a while ago , if you want he same effects just go back
to using ts2 (with very poor audio quality) , it just makes the audio sound like poop
So no , we don't use it buddy.

@Linwig
The simplest way for them the "upgrade" it is to make you pay again for BS2.....
Due to ED getting their excrement together regarding the auto patcher
just install BS1 + activate it, then install DCS world (if necessary)
then install the BS2 - the quest for more money module for DCW world
Then fly a BS mission to activate the module

Once that is done just uninstall BS1, or just buy BS2 full module while it is on sale.

Mike.

You still on?

Just woke up. Sorry!

I only have a saitek cyborg x stick, is it worth me getting black shark or will it not work/be any good/I be any good at it with it? Looked at it before then never got it..

It sounds a hell of a lot better than it should. There are still a lot of radio effects and limitations not implemented.

I suppose it depends what you want though really. If you want a more realistic comms experience, then it is the way forwards. If you're not bothered about it then don't.

@MarkeR , tried that mission last night and it constantly crashed :(

Problem traced back to needing to run mission on a client computer and not a dedicated
PC , played mission for a bit was good fun.

Lurkio.

He is looking for feedback, maybe you could post your crash log on the thread I linked too?

I would love to , but sadly like thousands of others I am banned from ED forums
having an opinion that deviates from the accepted "We are awesome and can do nothing wrong" gets u booted

LoL..

Didn't realise they were that bad.

I have asked for his updated version, which he says is fixed. If I get it, ill hop onto ts3 tonight if it's okay with you guys?

Well my first go in the A10 last night went much smoother than the stock su25. Much nicer to handle! Was really chuffed with not breaking anything on the first landing ... untill i discovered the nosewheel steering had disengaged for some reason. Ended up helplessly watching myself slowly veer off the runway and straight into some kind of radar truck.

Then I went about reading half arsed guides and random forum threads on how to set up the two MFDs on my nexus 7 with helios and whatnot. Three hours, another £2.99 for a virtual display app (uh oh...), much hair pulling and lots of yelling at the screen I finally figured it out. Now im just left with two questions:

1 - I have about a 1280x100 blank space at the bottom of my nexus. Any 'must have' buttons/switches worth cramming on there?

2 - I also have a 12" touchscreen laptop - is there any virtual display software that works for windows over wireless? Its pretty much the same res as my nexus (1280x800) but would be nice just to have the bigger screen in the first place.
