*** Official DCS World Thread ***

cheers for that gents really enjoyed it! Very sweaty in vr tonight though, summer evenings don't help!

With VR I dont know if it affects the AI having nav lights on, but its pretty much essential for me to spot you at anything over a couple of miles or so, I'll remember to mention it next time but its a lot better than having labels turned on which ruins it for everyone.

Looking forwards to next time

Was a good session. Not even sure where the lights are on a P51. Certainly know in the Harrier and F18.

For the planned strike mission, as mentioned, I'll pull the mission together, but then it would be great if one of you could "plan" the strike.
For aircraft, we could all use A10s, but it did occur that it might be viable to mix it up and also use the Harrier or F18. I'll leave that decision to whoever is going to be flight leader for the strike.

I'm about tonigt but not over the weekend, also I fired up the A10 last night and have pretty much forgotten all of the weapon delivery side of it so will need to relearn that before tonight :/

I'll be on tonight.
I have a mission ready to rock and roll, using the NTTR map, so please ensure that's in use.
From a planning perspective, we'll need to be given direction on what aircraft you wish for us to use, i.e. F18, A10 or Harrier

Well I'll be on but my install has removed Nevada YET AGAIN.

Its now refusing to reinstall it and even if it did it would take me another 24 hours to reinstall.

Its beyond a joke now, every time I use the stand alone install it removes half my modules or terrains each update

I expect to be on tonight chaps.
As per normal, if you're around, feel free to jump on the server, which I'll run up around 7-7:30. I'll also run Discord.

Sorted out the settings for the ILS on the Stennis over the weekend, so that's now running.
I've also been playing with the VR shader mod, which seems to have reduced GPU usage and allowed me to turn up some other settings. Was running with a PD of 1.3 on Sat, though I can't say I was that impressed. Tried playing with the trees and grass. Not sure what I'll go with.

You running caucasus tonight or NV?

What would you prefer? I'm chilled either way.
If we use Cauc, it will be the standard Inferno, so good for training in a variety of aircraft.
If you want to use NTTR, we can fly the strike mission that I've run up, using A10s.

Great session last night, thanks chaps, very much enjoyed it.
Apologies for needing to duck out at 9:30, but I'm usually given my marching orders by the missus at that time.

Really enjoyed using the A10c. Whilst not my usual "go to" aircraft, made an interesting change and it was great to learn something new.
Probably best if we keep using them for a few weeks to work up our "wing" skills in them.

What did occur is that I'm guessing that each of us is probably more knowledgeable on some kit than others. So for example, I'm pretty switched on in using the harrier and most of the choppers and can fly the warbirds. So if one of you fancies spending one of the evenings working on say flying the Huey, that would be fairly easy to do.

MrR> Assuming I remember tonight, I'll send you a copy of the mission file that we were using last night. If you want me to talk through any of the logic that I'd added, do let me know, very happy to.

As mentioned, I'm typically on most evenings in week from around 7-9pm. If I am, I'll run up the server, just join if you're on. Note that this Thurs, I will be busy.

Agreed was good fun. I'm fairly familiar with the A10 just need to remind myself of sensor operation, although with the way it drops my frames in VR using pods and stuff I'm happy using unguided stuff instead.

Going to attempt to record some footage with OBS tonight if anyone's on, should make for a good laugh

Sorry chaps, couldn't make the end of last week as I had a "spot of bother" with the VR mod, which led to a bit of a re-work on the installation of the game.

On a positive note, spent some time over the weekend cleaning up and creating new missions that are a bit more helpful.
So I now have "training" missions set on Cauc, NTTR and PG, each of which has pretty much every aircraft that we have available to fly. That allows easy bouncing between aircraft, without needing to restart missions.
Added a "poor weather" training mission for Normandy, with some WW2, helicopter and carrier ops.
Then created 2 "strike" missions, with some half decent targets in both the PG and Cauc maps.

In short, should have plenty to do.
I see that the Mav E issue has been solved for the Harrier, good news.
Also, couldn't help but notice some of the new visuals, e.g. overwing vapour on the F18. Looks utterly awesome.

Finally, did some more acclimatisation on the A10c and learned the cold start on the Mig21.
Was a fun weekend!

Mr_R. If you remind me of your email ID, I'll drop you copies of the above missions.

Me and Casper been flying a few missions on DCS, We are on the OCUK discord. Would totally dig anyone else peaking there interest in getting some weekly mission runs on the go.
