*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Of course you should use it in between hacking forward nodes but I've not seen a reason to upgrade it yet.

Icarus Landing System is hilarious. Punching someone in the face costs 1 energy bar, generating a gravity field or whatever it is that slows your descent and can stun nearby enemies on landing costs zero. Its very super-hero like. Run in, tell the girl you'll save her (Mei) then jump off the balcony and fall 2 stories in perfect safety :p

Yeah, I found that a bit weird that it doesn't use power :( I didn't end up getting it, but it is sweet :p Might try it in another play through. I wish there was an Aug calculator kind of thing, so you could look at what augs you could get with Praxis kits.

Is there an overall limit to how many Praxis kits you can get in game? As when I was near the end, my XP went up an entire level, and I didn't get a kit. I did miss around 4 in Heng Sha though as I was nice and paid the girls debt

Any idea how this will play on a 9400m gt? All I have on my paltry macbook - would be great to play, but do not want it to play appallingly. The beta is on youtube with a 9400m gt which doesnt look amazingly impressive, but not too bad for a beta - so Im hoping that it should be a lot better.

Just done the first boss (i presume Barret is the first boss) and i'm 7 hours in. Was a bit jarring playing completely stealthy and then suddenly being thrust into a firefight, but 2 grenades and an assault rifle clip and it was over in 20 seconds(on 2nd attempt)

How far in would you say i am?

Trying not to read half the posts on here (I'm only a couple of hours in). So far I think it is very very good; the attention to detail in the environment is quite something. Stealth is also extremely satisfying.
Seeing how slowly I am going at the moment in an effort to explore everything, I think this one will take me a long time to finish (first playthrough going for pacifist on GMDE)!

One thing I didn't find out until trying it was quicksave/quickload - I can't find the key binds in the controls menu, but trying out a few keys revealed it is F5 and F8.

The only other thing bothering me is the stuttering in cutscenes (and occasionally in gameplay), despite lowering the settings. But it's not too bothersome thankfully.

Also it might be a good idea to separate the spoilers in a different thread, so we can find out some gameplay facts without accidently stumbling on a major spoiler post. :)

There's a fair few pages so forgive me if this has already been addressed, but does anybody else get woozy playing this?

I've tried vsync on/off, fov more/less, fps is consistently good and there is no apparent stutter but I had a banging headache after playing this for an hour and felt physically sick.

This has never happened to me before :(

I've played 4 hours and I'm only in the police station. Was having a wonder round the detective offices and I may have held onto 'Q' for too long when I snuck up behind Det. McCann while he was sitting is his chair... ended up thrusting my blade through the back of his chair and through him. woooops, had to drag him into the ventilation system. :D

I do when running DX11. Dropping to DX9 fixed it... :(

Oddly for me with my ATI 6870 I was getting bad stuttering and lag with DX9 so switched to DX11 and it went away completely. Where is the logic in that? Shouldn't I have been getting better performance in DX9 lol? I couldn't notice a lot of difference in graphical quality between the two I have to say anyway, so I don't think you're missing much.

Well i have just finised it, one word "EPIC",

It really does capture the spirt of the first game and expands in good ways to build something really worth everyones time and money,

if you dont have it go get it now

At the end of the day use whatever you feel like using, all I know is that I've used fortify and I've hack without it, and using fortify costs nothing during a hack, it has a dramatic benefit and saves from using any stops/nukes which allows you to sell them and make more money.

Money isnt exactly an issue in this game :p I had it coming out of my ears. By the end of the game I had ~ 40k and thats with buying all the praxis I could find. The same with the stop and nukes. I had over 60 nukes and over 40 stops at the end and I was getting very careless about how I approached things. This is coming from the guy who didnt bother with fortify at all, whenever I got low in time, I just popped a stop. I did end up failing a few hacks but that was more to do with me being stingy with the stops/nukes and being careless.

If what you say is true then like you said, it really doesnt matter. Its just six of one and half a dozen of another, if thats how the saying goes. Stealth still makes hacking faster though :D....

Anyway....now that i've completed it.......

Did anyone else notice theres a serious lack of pistol ammo late game? I didnt really use it much but my ammo stockpile steadily decreased throughout the game. Fortunately for the later bosses I used the 'heavy rifle'(i think) and just spammed them to death with that and didnt really break a sweat

If I do another run through I might have to ditch it and go for the combat rifle instead, I seemed to find plenty of ammo for that later on. I didnt really try the shotgun or the sniper rifle. I always seemed to get hammered when close to the enemies so I figured it was better to stay away from them and the rifle meant you needed to keep out of cover if you used the scope which meant I just got hammered at range instead.

Turning off SSAO reduced the stuttering quite a bit for me.

Seems like it's taking a while to load textures etc. Nothing to do with graphics card or drivers

8 Hours in and just getting to my apartment.

Those who are completing this game in the same amount of time must be missing a serious amount of it out.

Thoroughly enjoying it so far, applying both stealth and brute force in places.

I stand by my statement earlier in this thread. Game of the year 2011.
