*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

First boss is easy yeah. 2nd and 3rd not so easy though ;) Certainly not without an armor upgrade I found. I used Typhoon on the last boss. Easiest thing ever ;)

Yeah, hacking is definitely worth it. Just not the fortify aug that I got, as I only got the first level, and then didn't really use fortify that much. I found nuke and stop worms a lot more useful :)

There are quite a few turrets and robots later on. At least disabling them comes in handy. Much easier to disable than sneak, as they count as alarms too. So for no alarms I imagine it could help a lot :)

Well the Robot in the base had an unfortunate accident with an EMP grenade (250xp came my way too).

I really don't see the point in fortify. Only nodes with 0 can be lower than 15% for hacking, but fortifying gives a really high chance to detect on any reasonably secure node. I've got 25 Stop and Nukes stockpiled and system that is strong enough to actually make use of Fortifying doesn't tend to give much back. Infact it takes longer to select the nodes and tell them to fortify than it does to just push on with hacking and get to the end faster. It should've been made a 0% chance.

Did anyone else feel disapointed by how linear the ending was? I was hoping that the game would branch off into the multiple endings much sooner, rather than all depending on the final 5 seconds of gameplay.

I don't think the game should have given the player so much of a clear choice on picking an ending, I think the ending should be given to the player based on a set of choices they have made throughout the entire game, which would also mean multiple play throughs are requried to get all endings, not just loading a save 5 seconds before the end.

Edit: And to the people talking about fortify, I used it a lot, I would start my hack and as soon as I got detected I would quickly fortify everything I control that is on route between the firewall and my entry location. If I'm undetected I don't fortify but once I'm detected there is no reason not to, and it can vastly slow down the firewall trying to hack its way back to you, and has made MANY hacks so much easier by providing a ton of extra time. That being said though I didn't NEED it, as I ended up with something like 30 nukes and 20 time stops, but without fortifying I would have used a lot more of them. And not fortifying is not faster or anything, you can hack multiple things at the same time as fortifying everything, only if you could do 1 thing at a time would not fortifying be good.

Which Nvidia drivers are these? Because I'm already on 280.26 which seems to be the most recent.

Latest's ones i got off there site they weren't beta though. Regarding first boss yeah it was easy (doing it on mid difficulty) Threw a grenade couple hs and then threw one of explosive barrels which also triggered another to go off and killed him.

Yeah, agree with the fortify point. At least I only wasted one Praxis on it. I didn't ever fortify anything, thought it would be more useful. The lower detection rate is totally offset by fortifying anything, which is annoying.

Stop worms and nukes are the best. Especially since you can use fast stop too. So easy as.

One thing ive noticed in screenshots as i dont own the game, its got a nasty yellow tint to everything...why? i honestly dont see the point, hopefully this is something which doesnt show up that much ingame.

That's it's art style. I quite like it actually, but even if it's not to your taste, I can't see it having too much of an impact when playing.

It's intentionally yellow tinted, in the same way Deus Ex was cyan tinted and Invisible War was purple tinted.

It's there to evoke a neo-Baroque/Renaissance aesthetic, and the yellow signifies rapid advancement and enthusiasm, while the black symbolises conflict and conspiracy.

No, I'm not making that up.

Hmmmm, not getting me hooked really, but I think that's me simply growing out of gaming little bit as they years clock on rather than it being a bad game, but I loved the first one and this one is, for me at least right now, a bit meh.

detection skills helps prevent you from getting detected but are pointless once detected, the only thing that helps once you are detected is fortification. If you use fortify before being detected then its a bad idea and will most likely get you detected, but once you are detected there is nothing stopping you simultaniously fortifying everything between you and the firewall to slow the trace down, and since you are already detected there is no reason not to.

Fortify is very good against level 5 hacks.

I dread to think what it's like hacking on the consoles though. Unless they have a different hacking UI.

Really enjoying the game but having catastrophic crashes - Randomly when I Tap ESC to save the game, it drops straight back to desktop, no error message, nothing.

Process list doesn't even show it as a non-responding process, it simply drops it immediately. That is followed by Steam also dying.

hohum, great game beside that mind :)

Played about hour and a half and only just done the first mission. Reading everything I find and listening to everything I can. ****ing love this game!!!

The safe fall ability that allows you to jump from any height also allows you to stun nearby enemies on landing, I got this abiliity and used it several times to get to secret areas, but did anyone find any real locations where the stun can be useful? Nearly all the high drops in the game have no people near the bottom, or at least none that I need to stun.

Seen this in action on a mates PS3, I want to buy it for pc, however, it is 49€ on steam

The augmented version (44€) is cheaper than the normal version on steam. The limited edition ''benelux'' version is 25€ retail...
Will a retail version register on steam (for the achievements)?

I got the retail box version and it comes with a steam code to register and install the game, aswell as the code for the extra stuff if you get the augmented version.
