*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Turning off Directx11 has seemingly fixed my regular crashes.

Shame because now I get stuttering, load times are up, and it doesn't look as pretty :(.

There seems to be an issue with people who have nvidia 5 series cards, especially over overclocked ones using direct x 11. There are a few posts over on the steam forums and loads more on the eidos forums.

I used to get a crash every few hours but the further I get into the game it just crashes more often (finishing off China level at the moment) I can max the game in DX11 and get a solid 60FPS and my temps are fine, the my GPU never goes over 73 degrees.

They really need to patch this as the DX 9 version, although doesn’t crash runs terrible, stuttering and 2 seconds freezes are common

Whats the hacking in this game like is it annoying and time based, anyone got a screenie of it in action?

Might try it when a demo comes out but depends on the hacking section because a lot of these types of games the hacking bit puts me right off especially if their vital ones to do so u can progress.

Anyone know a console command to change augs? I've sunk a few points into Cloak and it's really not worth it - too much energy useage, not enough time ...

I said last page (or 2) ><

Examining it tells you what mods are available and how many of the basic mods you can attach (if any). Combining greys out anything not compatible.

Why would there be a console command to give you Praxis points? Besides, its all about trying things out and Cloak isn't intended for running around perma-stealthed. Its short bursts (hence why the top level only gives 7 seconds per bar) to let you pop out and do something or jump past cover or activate with sprint silenty and run past someone.

Eidos Support is taking the **** now, its a joke. hundreds of thou sounds are getting the stuttering fps drop for no reason and there hasn't even been a simple announcement regarding the issue, they are not even acknowledging it exists..........a patch better come out soon.

i only noticed the stuttering when I went on the forums and all the complaints on there lol
kinda annoying not game breaking though. Did it stutter in the leaked version ??

The hacking is ok. Most of the mission critical stuff is low level or you can find the passcode for it if you look around.

If someone could tell me where steam puts its screenshots I've got one or two :p.

just got to china - 11 hrs in and i'm loving it.

The only real negative for me is that the music is not as good as the original so far. I'd go so far as to say, whilst it's high quality, that i would have even preferred remixes of the originals.

I actually only thought about this when i was breaking into the police station and the originals soundtrack played on the radio.

still it's a small thing and i'm very happy with the effort so far

Various types of nodes, some contain credits, xp, or tools to aid hacking, you have a % to be detected every time you look at a node, and once you've been detected you have x amount of time to get to the registry.

What have people decided as being the best FOV for playing at 1920 x 1200 on a 26" monitor? I usually play games on stock FOV, but I really should increase it, because it does make it better for seeing stuff

For that aspect ratio, 85 is good. Could probably get away with 90 without it looking all fish-eyed as well.

Also, for Pacifist, can you kill the guys at the start in the on the rails part when you only have one gun?

No. Even though you lack a stun gun or tranquillizer rifle, you can quite easily avoid them by moving low down and in cover. Not sure if you can perform take downs at that stage in the game as I never tried myself. But again, you can avoid them easily enough anyway (even if they spot you about to leave a room, just peg it - they won't manage to shoot you enough and certainly won't go after you).

Oh. My. Life.

:D.

ROFL. Just made my day! :D
