*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

I hate that all games now use XP, it worked in wow and probably over mmo's but other game genre's shouldnt use it in my opinion, just a little thing that annoys me...xp in car games, xp in first person shoot em ups, xp in deus ex, pfff! :(

Finished it last night :D

SPOILERS!

Hardest boss was Jaron Namir but maybe becuase I foolishly had the killswitch installed when I was told to get the new biochip I should've said NO! and so I had to kill him without the aid of augments took a while but I had the Laser rifle with a ****load of ammo so could stay in cover and pick him off with that. Can't believe how easy the last Boss was though was expecting more.
To sum up Story was Fantastic, Bosses were whay too easy, rest of the gameplay wasn't too bad... but like all newer games it's too damn short!

I think you both missed the point of what I was saying, re-read what I said lol...I just hate how all games these days have xp, on consoles, PC, everything, EVERY GENRE!!! LOL

cars games and first person shoot em ups!? what?

I cant be the only person on the planet that finds this daft and annoying!

Dude the seres was made as an RPG FPS Hybrid in the first place!

Besides most games are going the RPG hybrid route now for a reason they're more challenging and ergo more fun!

For some things yes, but this is a discussion about Deus Ex so you could only be insinuating that you were complaining about XP in Deus Ex.
Otherwise why bring it up in this thread?

Well its just for me personally, it was like I'd never heard of xp, then I played wow for 4 years when it first came out, and then ever since every game I've tried has xp, including car games and first person shoot em ups, and sure origonally car games and first person shoot em ups like call of duty didnt have xp, so whenever I get a new game now and it has xp I just think "why they using this same old crappy xp system, pfff" I'm sick of seeing it personally. I'd be really happy if all games in the future are made without the xp system.

Oh god don't get me started on that ****. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention at the time, because I had no idea I was making such a dumb decision in getting the biochip. A good half hour I spent doing the same 10-15 seconds over and over again, not come so close to breaking something in anger for a long time. Once you know the trick he's incredibly easy to beat, until that point he exemplifies everything that's wrong with boss fights.

^^ I got my own back on that one - I'd hacked the turret in the tunnel just before and was dragging it along with me, so when I exit the elevator I had it with me and the turret and boss went at it til the turret killed him :D

Am old school die hard CS fan too, I still play counter strike even today, origonal cs, not that source rubbish that newbies play! lol

Multi-player I agree XP is not needed as that is pure unadulterated Kill the ****ers on the other team/free for all I still play multi-player FPS but single player has become too linear and boring without extra elements being added hennce you can see why most singleplayer games aren't just shoot and follow orders games now as thats become stale except for in multiplayer gameplay.

How many Praxis kits can you pick up with the arm augmentation bursting through the wall? I'm back in Detroit after being at Picus, so still have to go back to China again.

Pretty impressive haul there Evilsod, in that screenshot. How far into the game are you?

God knows where the time went last night, i was playing until 4am! Just done the second boss woman. Was getting very frustrated as i am stealthy and didn't have many weapons, only the pistol as lethal and then there must have been a bug as she just stood in the middle not moving, so i took her out.

I haven't enjoyed a game so much in a long time. Someone said earlier that it was a great game but not a classic, well i think it is a bit of a classic and maybe people won't realise just how good it is until they look back on it.(after playing some of the other rubbish released nowadays):p

I don't want to play it anymore as i don't want it to end, 18 hours in now so must be near the end

I put just under 25 hours into it and I did not take it slow or stealthy and could easily have doubled that taking my time exploring, doing more side stuff, etc.

A lot of people are saying about being stealthy and hacker like and finding the bosses tough due to lack of weapons... do none of you explore - i've done 2 bosses so far and both had weapons in the room in lockers or what not for you to use...

I found the bosses a joke, they go down quicker then an Essex Girl!

It never crossed your mind that you can use the silent running (with it's incredibly slow drain rate) when you need it and turn it off before it takes down a bar?

I never had an issue with not having enough energy, but I was always careful with turning abilities off before they consumed an entire bar, unless I needed to. In tandem with x2 takedowns and the stun gun, you're doing something wrong if it's a problem.

Why didn't you think of this?

PS, Stealth doesn't use an energy bar either, it drains over time, don't be a spazz and time things.
Many times I've used cloaking and silent running together to dart from one box to another without using a single bar up, helps to have faster sprinting too.

Did you even THINK about what you said then?

You regenerate to a maximum of 1 bar. ANY augmentation that uses energy will immediately prevent you using a takedown which funnily enough uses 1 bar without having to use energy bars. You cannot use Run Silent and still have enough energy to do a takedown, nor can you use Cloak or Smart Vision and given that I'm using takedowns on almost everyone, I can't start chugging bars every other kill.

Probably near the end but it keeps going :p

I wouldn't be surprised if I've almost maxed out everything by the end.

Has anyone tried out the Laser Rifle? I though I'd give it a shot on a couple of allies when I found it, my god it sucks.
