*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

I just spent the last half hour or so going around Detroit killing absolutely everyone :p

Started with gunning down that ex-cop in the apartment with an assault rifle, going upstairs and killing the husband and wife with aug takedowns and rampaging from there.

My main and only real issue with this game is how long it takes to load :/

Going a bit off topic here, and towards the morals behind the story:

As an electronic engineering student, with the opportunity to study bioelectronics next year, and the potential for biomedical engineering (Glasgow Uni has just started a course in this, and one guy I know did an MSc in Biomedical Engineering, and another is doing a PhD) I find all this quite interesting.

The game does focus around an issue which is very real, and upcoming. I mean, we already have some of these "augmentations" as you wish. I need to watch the Eyeborg documentary still, as it sounds interesting. Fun of the game aside, I think it does touch on a very important issue regarding the combination of engineering with biology and medicine, and how we will embrace these technologies in the future.

Slowly. I can't say it wouldn't be quite accurate that America would be full of fanatics claiming people are playing God, but there is no way such technology would get to such an advanced stage without legislation as is happening in Deus Ex.

Though the global conspiracy does sort of overshadow everything :p

Strange, i've had no problems with loading times. This is from a 2 year old laptop, granted its got a ocz vertex and an i7 but its not exactly a beast by todays standards. It never takes more than, at a guess, 12 seconds to load for me.

As for this augmentation malarky, I really can't see the appeal of getting my fully functional arm chopped off to get a stronger artificial one.

Oh yeah, definitely not. The legislation would be very tight I imagine. But it does pose interesting questions. But I suppose the game does make a point about the legislation side.

It's just interesting to see in the game. Behind the entire conspiracy and the lack of control, there is an interesting point. Sorry for the off-topicness. It's just something that interests me :p

My load times were greatly improved after the patches. Check and see if your game files are fragmented at all. And check the integrity to make sure they definitely patched properly :)

Can I just point out something, those two laser fields in Tai Yong Medical headquarters... are they taking the **** or what? I know the AI is thick as a post but surely this is something they could have made a bit challenging, especially that 3 set of 2 lasers that cross over a long the floor. What the ****. you can just walk through them at walking pace because the damn lasers go parallel to the wall before they ****ing come back! Seriously! What's the ****ing point!

Some stuff, like really little stuff that shouldn't but is, are really starting to annoy me.

Calm ;)

Just enjoy the story ;)

After about 25 hours i've finally completed the game. Most other games would have bored me s***less after playing for so many hours, and very very few games that are this long have this kind of quality throughout, it's hard to maintain. I think this is one of my fave games ever. Not as ground braking as the original Dues Ex was for it's time, but i think i like Human Revolution even more.

I had loading problems too, they're way too long, and look at my system specs in sig. Yet people on vastly slower systems are having it load way quicker. Obviously a bug.

.

Yup, pretty easy. One thing about this room though. The floor looked like it had a graphical error. It's the only error I have seen in the whole game. It didn't happen in the room before, or the one after?

This happen to anyone else??

Hmm. I will try and sort it because it's really tedious at the moment, if I die I have to sit around for an age before playing again.

aah i was in the TYM facility and climbed a ladder and went along the walkway thinking i was going to be able to sneak past everyone:cool: I then realised that in order to get down again i would need the landing system, so i had to go back the way i came:(
There really is a way to play this game for every type of player, in my current playthrough going all stealth i can't last 2 seconds in a firefight but can avoid one most of the time

Which AUG upgrades are best to start off with?

I would like the 'lift heavier things' (so I can throw bigger things around) but I guess I will probably need extra hacking more. Also the bionic legs for jumping higher look good.

**Possible Spoilers**

Lovin this, just took out the first boss. I have a heavily upgraded sniper rifle so literally shot him 3-4 times in the head and he dropped. Just had to do abit of dodging.

For the first big robot walker you encounter, I just lobbed an EMP grenade which landed directly under it, and it blew it to smithereens and I got an achievement and a tonne of xp! Epic moment.

Hacking is the thing I've found most useful and was the augmentation I concentrated on first. I've also found cloak to be highly useful in the later stages of the game as well (it's probably made me a bit lazy, though, as with it I'm able to be a bit more rushy during the stealth sections, but its certainly saved my hide on a few occasions).

You don't really need much during the early stages of the game, so it's probably a good idea to fully upgrade hacking before anything else. Can get XP quite quickly if you hack everything you come across as well.

Meh i think i screwed up somewhere, 2nd boss thing, i just cannot get a beat on her, most of the praxis ive put put into hacking and other stuff, so i dont have typhoon or any dermal armour :( went into the fight without really knowing it was there and ive not got any nades..:( do believe im screwed.

Theres supplies around the edge of the room that should have you sorted, pretty much tho don't get closer to her and keep shooting her as it disrupts her routine.
