*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Just finished it. Achieved Foxiest of the Hounds and Pacifist (relieved at the latter because I swear at least one of the guys I tranq'd ended up with the skull icon [also, robots don't count]). Took 37 hours - all game time (didn't take any long breaks/have the game paused for ages). Despite the lengthy play time, I still feel I could have explored a a bit more (missed the achievement for reading all 29 XP books for one thing, though I have a feeling I only missed one or two towards the beginning of the game). Overall it's the second best game I've played all year just behind The Witcher 2. Can't actually remember how long I spent on TW2, but I wouldn't be surprised if I've sunk more time into DXHR.

Very good game. Also, the post-credits "cutscene" obviously means there's going to be a sequal.

Well that wouldn't make a lot of sense from a business perspective, a lot of people playing HR have probably never played Deus Ex 1.

well neither would another prequel really, mechanical augs are now pretty much done for and you can't start on the nano augs till after deus ex.

but tbh the aug sytem int his seemed rather bland considering.

in deus ex the excuse was practically no one but you was augmented, but in this lots of people are yet there seems zero difference.

the aug special ops don't have any extra sensors to make them harder to sneak past or any special attacks or skills the only difference seems to be a slightly bigger health bar.

Its just a bit stupid given that theres no way to aim properly without crosshairs when shooting from cover. Though when you put a Laser on the gun you lose the crosshair again and have to aim using iron sights or the laser dot. Its not the best system...

Loving this game so far (got up at 6am to play it before work) but getting intermittent slowdowns - it's usually 60 - 70 FPS+ up to 100 sometimes but every now and then it drops to 30, even 20s.

I've tried dropping AA, depth of field etc. but that hasn't fixed it, any ideas?

Badly coded. Many of us are having these issues.

I'm 20 hours in to it, went through a phase of artifacting so stopped playing it as it was annoying me, quickly got past the section where it was artifacting and hasn't done it since.

Hmm i tranquillized the guy with the footage of the other guy stealing some stuff but the bums in the area started shooting at me. Pff low life scum.

Thought i could get it and not kill him in the process as cba to get the dealers off his back for him.

Climb up the nearby fire escape and tranq them from above. You can do it without getting spotted that way. Also while you're up there look at the air con units on the nearby wall. You can jump onto them for a present :)

Must admit, i'm getting bored to death searching through draws, reading endless emails, and hacking every door. I've just encountered the second boss and i hope the game changes from these boring offices to something different. Game needs more combat and less ******** like above that makes it drag on.

Nothing forcing you to read through the emails and search every drawer. There is normally other ways in to room thats locked either by vents or by finding a door code.

I enjoy it, but you don't have to play the game that way.

 You must have known at least partially what kind of game it was before you bought.

If you're really not interested in the "******** that makes it drag on" just start blowing doors off their hinges with explosives and using auto hack devices instead.

This tbh. I can see how it's not for everyone, but it's very forgiving of different play-styles so just shoot everyone.
