*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Completed it after ~20 hours, enjoyable, not entirely convinced of the ending and I started to tire of the format later on but still a fun play through.

My main gripe; I think the level design could have been so much more interesting, it felt rather linear and forced in many places i.e. use a vent, stealth or shoot your way from A to B, are people really that stupid?

I've just finished my first playthrough. 29hrs, with 2 side missions missed.

I got Foxiest of the Hounds, Legend, and a load of other achievements but missed out on getting Pacifist. I relaxed a bit on the 'no kills' thing after I reached China after realising that I was already screwed due to killing in the prologue. I've only killed a handful of people though regardless.

Next up I'll do the Pacifist playthrough properly.

I was playing as a pacifist only to realise at the very end that I had killed those guys in the Prologue bit. Sighh.

20 Hours i'm on 18 hours and still not at the second boss, altho i feel it's close if all the signs and hints are anything to go by. Just gone down a massive angled elevator. I must admit i'm really enjoing it, i found my silencer in a hotel from a tradesman in china :). I'm a total pistol freak tho pretty much every upgrade i've found has gone on the pistol and there is still more to go if the coloured bars are anything to go buy, i'm just worried i won't get the fully upgrade a weapon achievement (GUN NUT) :S.

TBH tho this is the first game in a long while where i feel i will start again as soon as i've finished, the strange thing tho i could never really get into the first dues ex, maybe i will give it another go after finishing this one :)

I don't see how people are squeezing so much out of this game, I literally did every side mission, spoke to every NPC, went to every room, every door, hacked every panel, computer and revisited vents that I knew would just lead me to where I had been. No stone was left unturned, I by no means rushed anything!

I felt like I was getting blood out of stone half the time so people approaching and exceeding 30hrs must either be dying way too much?

And that's probably it, I played on normal/medium and found the game very easy, perhaps too easy.

That would be because the Pistol is the best weapon by a mile. Armour Piercing mod means it can 1 shot kill most enemies right up until end-game where only the biggest enemies will survive (and they can be 2 shotted without alerting anyone). Silencer and Laser sight are headshot heaven. Assuming you kept the ammo you got all through the game you get more than enough (I had almost 200 left by the final mission). You have to basically force yourself to use other items which is a bit meh. Sniper Rifle does less damage in a headshot than the Pistol, as does a Crossbow (even when fully upgraded). Revolver won't do more damage either and has the added bonus of alerting everyone.

Assuming you found most the upgrades you can have it maxed after the second boss. Theres around 7 or 8 Damage upgrades throughout (and it seems about 12 ammo capacity because you find a stupid amount of them).

My thoughts exactly. I was on Hard and did things extremely slowly, dunno how you could do things much slower without checking everything 5 times over.

Just done the second boss and am on 21 hours. I'm not killing anybody though which adds to your playthrough time quite dramatically. In fact I'm trying to not even put them to sleep except when absolutely necessary which adds to it even more. I'm hacking but generally not reading the emails so reading time is not adding to that significantly.

Since I'm playing on 'Give me a challenge' rather than 'Give me Deus Ex' I'm deliberately putting no points into anything armour or shooting related and am not buying typhoon either. My next playthrough I will do hard and buy all those to offset the fact I wont be getting any stealth augmentations.

I found the first boss ridiculously easy any way (far too much cover to hide behind) although the second was much more of a challenge. I found I had to use a lot of emp grenades to get her to stand still.

First boss can be a pain in the arse if he spams grenades too much. Its a bit of a stupid fight really. Second was great fun though. Would've been so much easier if I'd got the electrical resistance upgrade but it was fun, had to use Hypostims to keep myself alive (they instantly boost health to 150) when the floor got electrified.

SPOILER !!!

The second boss took two hits from the Typhoon and a couple of close range shotgun hits, literally lasted 20 seconds and I don't recall getting hit! Very easy. I actually found the end boss the easiest, too much cover for the amount of enemies they throw at you, not enough strength/numbers. I'm not acting all 'FPS Alpha' here but it surprised me to hear people complaining about the bosses and their difficulty.

I managed to get him to grenade himself to death LOL,Not sure how it happened which was a bummer

The bosses are a challenge, its getting tiresome listening to people saying how easy they are when they killed them using Typhoon. If you think the boss fights shouldn't exist, then take Typhoon and EZ Mode them, but give it a rest with the bragging about it.

What enemies? I only remember 3 turrets at the end. The boss before that was the toughest for me (the guy who kicked your arse at the start of the game) as he liked to jump around and cloak like a retarded version of Cyborg Ninja from Metal Gear.

Are you just guns blazing it, i'm trying not to kill anyone if necessary which can add a lot of time to your playthroughs. i'm not stretching this out by any means the only time i go exploring is on the way to the next objective , i will divert if i see a hack panel, computer etc etc also if i see any doors i can go through i will explore where they lead. I've died about twice since i started once on the first boss and once from my own grenade. TBH i'm having a blast and i think getting blood out of a stone 25-30 hours in is a bit of an exaggeration. There are tons of Easter eggs related to other games did you find any of them , did you also find all the skill books if you left no stone unturned like you say then you must have found everything DXHR has to offer
