*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Finished it today better than I expected. dumbed down as i feared but at least not too much. Also what is with some of the TERRIBLE textures in this? i'm sure HL2 had better textures on notice boards etc. 7/10 anyway.

Also just finished this. One question. What dose holding down the action key "E" when the combat rifle is equiped do. it comes up with a activated symbol at the bottom right of the screen but i havn't seen any differance in the gun at all?
As its said in another thread in the games section, i miss manuals as well, as i buy through Steam.

The helicopters have such bad textures. The 1 that flies past you when you're climbing onto the roof of the building on the first mission looks so incredibly bad.

Did you pay any attention to your upgrades at all? The combat rifles activated upgrade is extremely noticeable... even if it does seem to be crap.

hi guys,

I've only been playing a little while but I'm a little uncertain how the slots on the bottom of the screen work. I put food in there and I can't take it out when I've got none left; is it supposed to do that?

Replace it with something. As far as I can find it's impossible to actually interact with anything after it's on the bar in terms of moving/removing it.

Right, I've been taking my sweet time with this game because I love the Deus Ex genre so dearly but I'm a bit confused about finding Michael Zelazny in Hengsha Part 2. I went to where my hud indicated to go; it took me to some room where clearly he had evacuated but there is a body on the floor with a personal secretary. I picked it up and read it and it says something about Zelazny going into the lower parts (which I assume must mean sewers). However, when I go to read my mission goals again I find it says to find the pocket secretary, which is where I'm confused as I have already found this. And furthermore it won't update the hud to where I need to go or update the mission goal... Unless there is something I am missing here or my game is bugged.. Please help.:(

I don't know if its bugged and doesn't update but you have to go find them yourself. Its stupid if its intentional because it goes from telling you where to go (like the Jacob mission in Detroit where it tells you exactly where to look) to making you find it yourself without actually telling you you're supposed to. Search the sewers near the other side mission.

See what i mean about hand holding.

From the information you have you do not know exactly where he is (unless Jenson is telepathic) so you have to follow the CLUE and find him DOWN BELOW probbaly say THE SEWERS.

So a good idea may be to start searching the SEWERS of various areas, they can be found DOWN BELOW the streets.

It's depressing when a game requires you to do some investigation it's dismissed as "a bug" or "stupid" because it requires you to use your brain rather than just go from point A to B in an interactive movie :(

Well yes but it goes against the rest of the game and gives no indication that you're supposed to be. Not to mention theres always the possibility that the enemies simply won't appear if the quest didn't update.

Only if you've got objective markers turned off would you not noticed the difference and have to go find them yourself, but even then the quest doesn't actually tell you its updated after you read it.

You just select an object in your inventory and press a number key [1 -> 0] to assign a number. To remove an item from the quick-list, just select a blank inventory space and press the number key.

To be honest I didn't pay much attention to the objectives at first, I just made sure I scoured every area which meant I automatically completed them. After realising there were side objectives (which I had done so far anyway) I started checking for them. The markers make it pretty much impossible to fail...

*Slight spoiler*

Wow saving Malik when you are doing a pacifist run through is one hell of a challenge. Especially when you don't have the tranquilizer rifle with you. I can just about save her using the stun gun but taking the mecha down without its death explosion killing any of the snoozing guards is a mutha of a challenge.

i'm curious how they can add dlc when i died at the end of the game?

or are they gonna retcon some magical escape?

From the article I read, it sounds like the DLC takes place during the main story, specifically at the point where Jenson goes "off the grid" for a few days when he hitches a ride on one of those containers. Could be wrong, but can't be arsed to check.

It depends if you're bothered whether you 'save' her for the rest of the playthrough or are just doing it to get the achievement. If it's the latter just save at the start of the level, nuke everyone (PEPS gun and pistol were my weapons of choice) then reload your save and carry on.

I originally left her to die because I thought the stupid cow would save herself and didn't want to give my position away, then once I'd completed the game I loaded an earlier save just to see if I could do it.
