*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Very good game, just completed it in 17hours, Tho I must admit I did like Dead Island more completed that in 21hours..

35 hours for my first play through and currently on 25 hours for my second play through. You guys must seriously be rushing i'm not even at the 4rd boss yet LOL.

did you read everything and go exploring, i'm struggling to understand why people completed it so quickly, i read all the e-books and e-mails on computers that in itself is quite time consuming.

Just watched this video linked by RPS about the boss fights....have to say i have no clue what he is prattling on about in his convoluted explanation for them.

Judge for yourselves :)

RPS - It’s perhaps of note that the president of the company explains that he wasn’t familiar with Deus Ex. Because he’s “a shooter guy”. Which seems an odd explanation for apparently never having heard of the series’ reputation

He is basically snaking his way out because he had no idea what Deus Ex was, realised there was a big fanbase and his reaction was "oh ****."

One way to look at the boss fight is that he forces to play into his strengths so you 'have' to change the playstyle you've used up until.

literally just completed it too, 20hrs total according to steam.
full stealth, didnt kill anyone (tho didnt get the pacifist achivement wtf??), hacked everything, almost had all the augs bar about 3, read pretty much everything (a lot of it is spam anyway) , 28achievements, did every side mission i came across, spoke to most people, all endings and did the bonus dlc to boot....

no idea how people are taking so long, it is a pretty linear game to be honest bar the few side missions i clearly missed but this is too be expected unless your reading exactly where they are beforehand.

my thoughts:
great game, ending is a bit wolly (all of um) but good enough, final boss battle was ok - not to hard but entertaining...dont really mind the battles as iv said earlier not sure why people moan so much about them asides from the difficulty spike.

interesting to see what dlc comes next and if its worth exploring. will probs play again within a year and do all guns blazing mode and try and track down the final side missions.

love the cut scenes in the game too, all of them were top class entertainment so whoever did those really needs a pat on the back.

no I think most people are playing it normally, not like some sort of religious experience. reading everything really doesnt take that long if your a competant reader, and a lot of it especially terminals are spam emails , or repeated chain emails across different pcs.

and exploring? i jumped everywhere , moved everything, went down every vent i found etc etc....

like i said some people are just treating it like a religious experience a bit too much.

Cannot imagine how you can be nearly 40 hours and only at the second boss. I stealthed, hacked everything, read everything and did every side mission I could and wound up about 25 hours. Are you spending a lot of time AFK or something?

I did in around 40 hours overall, I did read everything and if I missed a vent, I'd go back down it even if it took me the wrong way to get the XP.

The best thing with this game is the music and the atmosphere!

Finished it in 14 hours, rushed through the last chapters.

Otherwise the game is pretty flawed. Just take hacking as an example.
You just need to invest in the hack lvl augs. Rest is not needed to hack everything.

Far to linear and very small "levels"

No reason for a second playthtrough since you get all the augs you need without specializing

I'm so going to play it through without killing anyone, will be sort of a challenge that way... At the moment i can just walk in a room and kill everyone and carry on with the objective far too easily.

well there is if you did a run and gun or stealth on the first go - their too very big playstyles, im guessing you didnt save the two people in the final level then if you rushed bc their not a linear path and dont show up on the map?

Trouble with me, I suppose, is that I am a hoarder and if I can get something for free I do it. Take hacking for example, I completely forget about the stop worm and nuke things while I am doing it but insist on getting all of the free ones available so hacking can take a while. I checked and I have over 70 of each at the moment which is really pointless - it is just that each and every terminal seems to become a personal challenge to get the freebies! When I have wasted 10-15 minutes on one terminal I kick myself for not using the assets available to me but then 10 minutes later do the same again!

in my opinion there is no difference in character build between a stealth run or a gun run since you can do both in one build.

its impossible to get all praxis points unless you go completely stealth and do absolutely everything...this was discussed on the edios forums.

there is a big difference: stealth you kill no one and use none lethal weapons whereas run and gun you can do anything and everything - it does fundamentally change the way the game is played.

and if your doing stealth you shouldnt be putting points into typhoon, or aiming or damage reduction which is an example of character build being different immediately.
