*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

I've just started playing this tonight and aside from what so far seems to be a good game accompanied with a solid frame rate, I do get quite irritating flickering yellow textures / lines. This is apparently an Nivida issue, and having a look around the internet unfortunately hasn't provided any concrete fixes as yet. Supposedly, turning off tessellation has been a solution for some; and in my case also seems to help quite a lot, though this doesn't completely eliminate the problem.

Has anyone else experienced the same? I have had a look on the forum, but as you can appreciate there's a lot of pages to trawl through on this thread. I am using Nivida drivers 285.62. Would turning off tessellation in this instance mean I lose out on some worthwhile eye candy?

Hi...

Not saying it's a "cure all". But I frankly got fed up with the latest Nvidia drivers (the one's you are running) and went back to 275.33 and most of my "issues" went away. Even BF3 (at least for me) seems to run fine on these.

Good luck.

PS. I also got fed up of the random CTD issues as well and am finishing playing through on DX9 setting and frankly... I don't think you miss "that" much. Lets be honest, the graphics are not really up to much anyway (at least compared to games like: Witcher 2, Crysis 2, BF3 etc...) it's the gameplay that matters.
PPS. This is the only game in some 5 months that has given me any issues what so ever (CTD/drivers stopped responding). Funny really, as it's not that demanding a game!

Thanks for the info. :)

Thankfully, I haven't had one single ctd, and have been working my way through several beta and a couple of WHQL drivers to see what's best. Although I find the 280.26 the better driver for less corruption and smoothest performance so far, I'll give another beta one more look, if that doesn't work I'll try your suggestion of 275.33.

Like with yourself, this is the only game so far that has given me any issues so I can't complain at all.

So far I've tried :

285.62 - graphical corruption, smooth performance.
290.53 - much less corruption (if any), but jerky performance.
285.27 - corruption, not good performance.
280.26 - best so far - minimal corruption, smooth performance.
285.79 - corruption with less performance.
275.33 - failed twice to install.
290.36 - about to give it a whirl, if it fails I'll either go back to 280.26 or stay with the most recent WHQL driver 285.62 until they release the next one.

I wonder if the quadro drivers would be worth a shot?

You did watch to the end of the credits..........right?

Yes... but it still doesn't show any dialogue between Jensen and Megan.

End of credits just makes me more annoyed at her - should have been able to crush her skull when I saw her!

Anyways I figured out why I didn't get pacifist - I did a non lethal takedown at one point then had to get rid of the body pronto so dropped it down a lift shaft. that might explain it. D'oh.

EDIT: Despite the complaints, this is one of a handful of games that have really made me build up my own opinion on the storyline (The Witcher being the last). It's a shame that they seem to have rushed the end, so the consequences of your choices never feel like they materialised. Massive disappointment. :(

In all honesty I wish I'd not bothered playing it as the ending(s) made the whole experience feel like a waste of time.

275.33 - failed twice to install

Yep.... I had problems initially trying to re-install the 275.33 drivers. I think it's something to do with having installed one or other of the later driver packs.

I had to manually remove each component. Boot into safe mode and run Driver Sweeper. Then back into Windows and install 275.33
Normally these days I don't bother with Driver Sweeper, I just install over top of the previous drivers, as Nvidia's install process seems a lot slicker these days.

does anyone know if hacking a security system and making the turret treat anyone as enemies ruins your stealthy achievement?

Im assuming it does since it put my radar on alarmed status.

Used a previous save to do it differently but it just made me wonder

It certainly does

Does anyone know whether you NEED the social enhancer aug to win certain conversations, for example the one you have with Sairf at HQ where you confront him about the security leak? In my second playthrough I had that aug at that stage and won the conversation, so unlocked a mission later in the game which i knew nothing about in my first play(a very interesting mission as well)

I'm loving this game right now. I've been absolutely immersed in the dystopian setting. :D

I'm also playing on "Give me Deus Ex" difficulty. Hardest all the way. :p

Barrett was a lot easier than I expected but I did steal the G.E.P.S. gun and I've upgraded my machine pistol a lot.

Plus he's a bit stupid, you can just hide in the garage door areas where there is LOTS of ammo and just hide, he just wanders about. :p

The machine pistol with laser attachment and silencer is a killing machine, one hit head shots on everybody. No one suspects a thing. :D

Got this cheap off GMG. It's... slow. It seems comparable to ME2 but it just doesnt interest me storywise. There's so much dialogue which worked fine in ME2 and DAO because it was interesting but.. :/

Does it pick up? Ive just left the building to do some miniquests (the arms dealer etc) so im not very far in.

you just gotta think like this- no-one, except bosses, can die as a result of your actions. this includes hacking things, making it so a knocked out guy somehow falls off a ledge, inadvertent explosions, anything.

yeah, you killed him lol. ach ruined. throwing people down lift shafts isn't the way of a pacifist, even if you were humane and knocked him out first.

I may try for a complete pacifist run through, it's definitely much harder to play the game with non-lethal tactics.

I've had a mix of both for my first runthrough, got the ghost XP reward a few times at least.

If you havent played DX HR or the Missing Link DLC, where does the Missing Link begin? I was thinking of playing DX HR from the start and then change over to Missing Link when that story arc begins. After completing Missing Link then continue where I left off with DX HR?

At what point does Missing Link start?
