*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

I am pretty sure I read that you can turn this on and off. The game seems to be finished, hopefully they are using the time to make changes to the feedback they get. Having an on and off button for such things like arrow, or highlights should not be too hard to include in the PC version one would think, unless breaks the game someway.

As for startingly obvious and conveniantly placed crates and obstacles/objectives and so on, as Shamikebab pointed out, the 1st game did that also.

The way I see it is, from what I have read so far, I would much rather have this game exist than not exist. So I will pay £30 and support them. If it turns out much worse an experience then what I have been reading, then I will not pre-order next game.

Each to their own I say. Look at how many people bought Crysis 2, now that was dumbed down garbage to me. Yet go check out the thread, look how many peeps bought it at full price anyway. lol. I will add it to my steam collection when it's a fiver in a few years time. Maybe DX11, will be included by then. lol.

The glowing thing is easily turned off thankfully.

There is an interesting read over at PC Gamer about the glowing thing and various other features:

Feels a little off right now: the horizontal sensitivity is way higher than the vertical sensitivity, and there isn’t an option to adjust them individually. This may be because, as the saying goes, Console Gamers Can’t Look Up. Personally I got used to this after about half an hour so it’s not a persistent problem, and it seems like the kind of thing they’re bound to tweak. Other than that, the responsiveness is good and it doesn’t have that treacly sluggishness that some console ports do.

:(

from the rest of that pice it is a very strong, "it's a console game first and foremost but it's not been ported too shabbily."

That's why I've highly rated Dead Space 2, Shogun 2 and Portal 2? All AAA titles that have been excellent, released this year.

You said if Deus Ex was remade. I said if it was never made in the first place. That removes the nostalgia, that removes any fan loyalty. If the original Deus Ex was made with todays engine, having never been heard of before, it would be laughed at. So saying things are acceptable in this game because they were done in the first one, holds no ground.

Personally I did not enjoy DS2 that much. Not saying it was a bad game, because it was not. Never played Shogun 2 so can't comment. Portal 2's graphics are nothing special, surprised you never complained about that. Also good game but not great I thought.

I think making a game like Deus Ex is harder compared with a game like portal or deep space 2 to be honest. To be as good as we want it, it would have to be PC only. But knowing this is not the case, not point setting your expectations too high. I am pretty sure as long as the story is good, and the gameplay is at the level I have heard of, I will enjoy Deus EX: HR a lot more than I did Portal 2 and DS2 combined. If it turns out to be a very good game, then for me it will be just in another league.

Anyway, as I said before, each to their own. This is my opinion :)

Still looking forward to this game.. i have seen enough to suggest it will not be like number 2... nothing may live up to the original but this looks at least not to be a total console sell out like that was

Finished listening to the podcast, sounds like it's going to be a very good game. Definitely better than invisible war. Even if all those guys were being biased, the things mentioned still makes me happy. Sounds like there will lot's of exporation in the game, and mega replay value :D

Wow, I only just found out today there will be in-game ads for things like McDonalds and Addidas. That coupled with the consolised bull**** that has already been shown, I think I'll pass.

same if games companies want to place a revenue stream inside of a game then that game should either be free or heavily discounted... not a full price game

The ads would only be irritating if they didn't fit in with the game world. If anything, in this setting it would add to the immersion, I assume adidas and McDonalds will be around in the future in real-life.

The likelihood of the adverts fitting in with the style of the game are slim to nill. And seeing something 'familiar' like MaccyDs or Adidas in a game is hardly going to aid immersion, its gonna stick out like a sore thumb.

Ok that comment was meant to be tongue in cheek (missing obligatory :p) but I don't see it as a major defining point for the game. I'm a massive Deus Ex fan and this game in my eyes will fail based on comparisons to the original. Personally for me the presence of ads doesn't bother me that much. However, the "hand holding" that was described in the RPS preview is disheartening to say the least.

The more I read into things, the more I feel like I am doing to be disappointed, so the more I get into my head this will never top the first game, the easier it will help. I think you have to have that mentality, otherwise you simply won't enjoy it.

There are a lot of things I wish they avoided doing for this game, but I guess I'm glad we have some kind of continuation with the Deus Ex name, which will hopefully lead to better things in the future.

Problem is dystopian and oppressive corporate future adverts fit i nand are cool, but you'll never persuade a real company to be associated with clearly bad image, so they end up being happy cheery current day adverts and just don't fit in.

Would rather see fitting adverts fro ma fictional company than jarring adverts fro ma real one.

As long as they do it right, I don't mind (as long as it's a good game). But I would rather not have them in there full stop. Still looking forward to this all the same.

I had loaded up a NYC Warehouse save but the screenshots were too dark to see.

Basically I want to see Maccy D's doing an advert with the caption "Drink More, Think Less" or an Adidas advert along side the 'House of Pain, Gentlemens Club' advert :p

Its not gonna happen though. They won't fit in at all.

Would be like Nuka Cola from Fallout suddenly being changed to Coca Cola and them having to redo everything about the company to make themselves sound like a caring, realworld company who don't put radioactive isotopes in your drinks...

I didn't realise the game was shipping with preorder bonus items and a bonus DLC mission pack...

Could they be more detached from what Deus Ex actually is?

what seriously?:(

Well that means they expect the post release reviews to be terrible and are trying to make as much of the pre orders before they get busted.

one to download i think.

Yeah its strange. I can't find anything of the sort on the Steam or Amazon page for the Augmented Edition.

Explosive Mission Pack
Exclusively at GameStop stores

An entirely new mission with special cameo appearance of original Deus Ex character
Linebacker G-87 multiple shot grenade launcher
M-28 Utility Remote-Detonated Explosive Device (UR-DED)
Automatic Unlocking Device

For all other participating retailers, there's the 'Tactical Enhancement Pack,' which also offers two additional weapons for in-game use, plus 10,000 extra credits. No bonus mission, sadly.

Tactical Enhancement Pack
Offered at participating retailers

Huntsman Silverback Double-Barrel Shotgun
Longsword Whisperhead Extreme Range Sniper Rifle
Extra Credits

The 'original deus ex character' is Tracer Tong it seems. Think you're rescuing him or somet.
Extra Credits apparently means 10,000, which was almost more than you got in Deus Ex through half the game, so it could mean loads or not much at all.
